Arc 34The Luo Clan Returns

Luo Xianzhi’s schemes helped shatter Yan and Liang, but his death left both states to collapse. Centuries later, Luo Su returned through the Origin Tripod, explored the Grasslands, and began positioning the Luo Clan within the Sui Dynasty’s rivalries.

  • Murong Ke conquered Hedong, then allied Yan with Liang against Han before dying from the oath he had sworn, and Murong Chui succeeded him as Yan’s western power.
  • Cao Chengsi seized Wei’s throne and terrorized its people, but Murong Chui captured him, killed him, and took control of Guanzhong.

  • Murong Chui rebelled against Yan, but Erzhu Rong’s uprising and massacre of Ji City destabilized the realm, and Luo Xianzhi died after warning Xiao Yan about Liang’s future.
  • After Murong Chui and Xiao Yan also died, Luo Su descended into Winter City through the Origin Tripod, declined leadership of the Luo Clan, and set out to investigate the world.
  • Luo Su crossed the Grasslands, studied its peoples and Buddhism, then traveled to Guanzhong, where he killed Eastern Palace guards who had threatened Luo Xuanjing and revealed his sacred mark to Gao Cheng.
  • Luo Su spared Li Yuan and Dou Shi at Li Xiuning’s request, surveyed Sui institutions, and decided to use the Luo Clan rather than serve the emperor directly.
  • Luo Su sent Luo Xuanye to investigate Yang Guang’s household as Yang Yong, suspecting the Luo Clan had backed his rival, prepared to confront his parents and demand justice.
