In Su Xiaoluo's original estimation, it would have been pretty good if Lu Chen could perform at seventy percent of his usual level.
After all, Ranked and competitive play were two entirely different things.
No matter how dominant you were in Ranked, it was hard to run rampant in a professional match.
But who would have thought a single scrim could give him such a huge surprise!
Sure, it was only a scrim, but their opponents were EDG, one of the LPL's Three Royal Houses!
And Lu Chen hadn't been laning against some nobody. He had faced iBoy, the prodigy ADC hailed as someone who might catch up to Uzi!
Yet even against him, Lu Chen had displayed an outrageous level of dominance in this game!
At that thought, Su Xiaoluo looked toward Kid, who was sitting behind them. It was all thanks to General Sturgeon. He had done them a huge service...
All right, it's settled. I'll let him pick tonight's dishes.
Over in EDG's training room, the mood stood in stark contrast to the cheerful atmosphere at IG.
The atmosphere here was frighteningly grim. Every player sat silently in his chair.
They had all been stunned by the beating, and still hadn't recovered.
It felt as though they had only just sat down, and the game had ended before they even realized what was happening.
Coach Nofe hurried forward and called out, "Don't look so down! Chin up! It was just one scrim!"
Actually, he was stunned too.
Was that really still IG?
While IG certainly wasn't weak among the LPL teams, and could even rank near the top, that was one thing.
Compared with their Three Royal Houses, however, there was still a considerable gap.
Take the previous game, for example. Even with four ADC bans, IG's bot lane had still been the weak point they broke through. That was how things were supposed to go!
So what on earth had happened this game?
Once the players looked a little less miserable, he continued.
Nofe picked up his notebook and asked solemnly, "Now, let's all talk about what went wrong in that last game."
He had no choice but to take this seriously.
That scrim had been the worst game EDG had played in recent memory!
The game had effectively been declared over before the laning phase had even ended.
From ten minutes onward, their entire game plan had collapsed, and the rest had been garbage time.
To put it bluntly, they had been beaten so badly they couldn't tell which way was up!
Abu stood with his arms folded and said sternly, "Talk about what went wrong. Don't just sit there in silence. Isn't finding problems the whole point of scrims?"
"What went wrong?" IBoy's face flushed red. He seemed to have been dying to get this off his chest. "Their ADC definitely wasn't West! I've played against West so many times. I know his style. There's no way he could pull off plays like those!"
That spacing, in particular.
It had left an incredibly deep impression on iBoy. No, it was more accurate to call it psychological trauma!
I couldn't auto him! I seriously couldn't get an auto off!
A mere hundred units of attack range had become an unbridgeable gulf, leaving his Xayah helplessly taking hit after hit!
Abu frowned at that. "Never mind whether that player was West. We're here to identify problems!"
IBoy's lips moved hesitantly, but in the end, he could only lower his head and say, "I got careless..."
Meiko quickly added, "Our bot lane coordination wasn't good this game, and I missed crucial abilities early on. We'll be more careful next game."
Abu nodded slightly. He still trusted the strength of their bot lane duo, so he turned his gaze toward Clearlove.
Seeing Abu look at him, Clearlove simply spread his hands. "What is there to discuss? Isn't it obvious? Something was off about their ADC. He dodged our crucial abilities several times, and we just couldn't play."
Even now, that mid lane play from the last game kept replaying in his mind.
Sejuani's ultimate from out of vision should have been a guaranteed hit, yet Caitlyn had somehow reacted in time.
The later teamfights needed no explanation. His positioning and movement had been absurdly good. They couldn't even touch him!
Their own team, meanwhile, couldn't withstand even a few stray shots from that massively fed Caitlyn-not even their frontline!
At that, iBoy added hesitantly, "Yeah, their ADC's movement really did seem a little off..."
Meiko smacked his lips and said helplessly, "If this hadn't been a scrim, I'd have suspected him of scripting."
Could a human really pull off that bizarre, spinning-top movement?
Didn't his hand get tired from clicking nonstop?
In truth, even if professional players could execute movements like that, they would never bother.
There was simply no practical value to it.
Would spiraling around in place keep abilities from hitting you? In the end, it still came down to reaction speed.
Yet their opponent's Caitlyn had actually made that movement work.
He really could dodge abilities with those absurd, erratic movements. They had to give him that!
Abu and Nofe exchanged glances, each seeing the surprise in the other's eyes.
"Has IG really changed their ADC?"
Someone who could beat all their star players into acknowledging his skill was a rare find.
Finally, Abu thought for a moment and said, "Let's do this. Ban Caitlyn next game and see what's really going on."
"Okay," everyone answered.
Only iBoy's lips shifted slightly, as though he wanted to say something.
He felt that their opposing ADC wasn't some Caitlyn one-trick. The player himself was simply that good.
With such immaculate spacing and strange movement, he would probably be difficult to handle on another champion too...
Regardless of what iBoy thought, the final scrim soon began.
EDG used their very first ban on Caitlyn!
"Hahaha! We scared them into banning her!" Ning Wang slapped his thigh and laughed.
Their ADC could finally draw a ban.
In the past, opposing teams hadn't even considered IG's ADC worth banning.
All the pressure from those five bans had fallen on the other positions.
Now that Lu Chen had taken over, their other picks had suddenly been freed from that pressure!
Soon, both teams' first three bans were in.
EDG banned Caitlyn, Rek'Sai, and Rakan.
IG banned Lucian and Trundle, who had performed reasonably well in the last game, along with the queen of the current meta, Taliyah.
Then EDG picked Maokai as usual, followed by Ezreal and Cassiopeia.
IG picked Syndra, Jarvan IV, and Alistar.
"Lu Chen," Mafa spoke again. "What do you want to play this game?"
Lu Chen stared intently at the Ezreal portrait the other side had selected and smiled. "Draven."
You think picking Ezreal will let you coast through lane?
Not a chance.
Behind him, Coach Mafa's eyes lit up. "All right, let's pick Draven!"
This new ADC really did have a champion ocean, just as they had judged!
If he could play every champion as well as he had played Caitlyn just now...
Their drafts would be much easier from now on!
"Welcome to the League of Draven!"
As his signature voice line rang out, IG locked in the portrait of the Glorious Executioner.
This time...
EDG's reaction was clearly nothing like it had been in the previous game.
When their opponents had picked Caitlyn last game, they had found it funny, thinking IG had simply given up.
This game, everyone fell rather silent instead.
"Draven?" IBoy's eyelid twitched. "I knew it. Their ADC definitely isn't West!"
West had never played this champion. Not even once!
Besides, anyone who dared bring out Draven in professional play had to be extremely confident.
This champion had an incredibly low margin for error. If he couldn't build a lead in lane and snowball, he was effectively useless.
