"I was wondering who was splashing out on five Super Rockets in a row. Turns out it was Rookie."
"Haha, Rookie's using Super Rockets to book a boost from C God, huh? Confirmed: a pro-level god-tier booster."
"Looks like C God gets along pretty well with the IG players."
"So is C God actually starting in the summer split or not?"
"Just got here? You missed the best part. C God just slaughtered his way through five Korean-server games. Man, those games were so bloody you could barely watch."
"It's fine. We can watch the recording."
"C God's ten-year veteran fan, reporting in uninvited!"
The number of chat messages exploded, packing the screen so densely that nothing was readable.
But that wasn't the end of it.
After Rookie came in, the other IG players gradually made their way into the training room too.
That was a pro player's sleep schedule for you. It was past ten, with the sun already high in the sky, and they had only just gotten up.
Soon, once everyone heard what Rookie had done, they followed suit. Lu Chen couldn't stop them.
[IG ning sent Super Rocket ×3!]
[IG baolan sent Super Rocket ×2!]
[IG kid sent Super Rocket ×2!]
Even TheShy, who never got involved in this sort of thing, joined in and sent two Super Rockets. Then he sat at his station, grinning foolishly at the chat in Lu Chen's stream.
Even though he couldn't read it...
For a while, Super Rocket notifications rolled across the entire Hu Sha platform.
"Hehe." After sending his Super Rockets, Ning Wang grinned at his phone screen. "These people actually have a point. It really does look like we're using Super Rockets to place orders with C God."
Baolan scratched his head and smiled shyly. "If a few Super Rockets could win us matches, that'd be an amazing deal."
Rookie spread his hands. "If that were true, Principal Wang would probably go crazy sending them."
With the ragdoll cat Nuomi in his arms, Lu Chen felt both touched and amused. "Looks like I've got no choice but to give it my all now."
Ning Wang spoke with complete conviction. "C God, hurry up and play Ranked. Once you get your rank up, duo with me. Those Super Rockets weren't free!"
Lu Chen was speechless. Great. Looks like I've got debts to repay now.
The stream continued until noon.
By the time it ended, his popularity score had reached 1.5 million!
Although popularity wasn't the same as actual viewer count, and that figure couldn't compare with those of the big streamers.
Lu Chen was a newcomer!
On his very first day-no, after just a few hours of streaming-his channel had already passed a million in popularity. That was astonishing enough.
The Super Rockets Rookie and the others sent had merely been the spark.
The real reason was that Lu Chen had been generating so much buzz in the League of Legends community lately.
"All right, that's it for today."
Looking at the screen, Lu Chen said at an easy pace, "I've got something to do this afternoon. See you all tomorrow~"
A placement rank appeared on the screen-Platinum I.
His placement record: ten wins out of ten, ten MVPs, and zero deaths in total!
"No! C God, I haven't had enough yet!"
"Holy crap, those ten placement games were absolute bloodbaths. That felt so good to watch."
"Don't go, C God! You can't leave! How am I supposed to live without youuu~"
"I keep feeling like C God and I are playing two different games. Is League of Legends really this easy? Why do his opponents look easier to beat than bots?"
"C God: isn't this easy as long as you have hands?"
"That got my blood pumping. I immediately queued for Ranked and instalocked Draven!"
"Don't. You don't have hands."
Despite the chat's wails and pleas for him to stay, Lu Chen closed the streaming software.
"Chen, want to grab lunch together?" Baolan got up from his station.
The others were still playing Ranked.
"Sure." Lu Chen smiled with interest. "Perfect timing. I wanted to check out the food here anyway."
They agreed at once and headed toward the dining room together.
The IG club employed a cook specifically to prepare their meals.
All the players had to do was go and get their food.
A little later, Lu Chen and Baolan sat at a dining table and dug in.
"Delicious!"
Once he had eaten and drunk his fill, Lu Chen grinned in satisfaction, leaned back in his chair, and gave a thumbs-up.
As expected of a club owned by Principal Wang, they weren't afraid to spend money on things like this.
Speaking of which, Lu Chen suddenly felt rather glad he hadn't gone to EDG.
Their terrible food was genuinely infamous.
He still remembered Deft and Ray complaining about how bad EDG's meals were.
At first, everyone had thought the Korean imports were being fussy and simply couldn't get used to Chinese food.
Only after the truth came out did they realize that the food really was fucking awful!
Quite a few media outlets had even reported on it. In February of that very year, 2017, EDG had issued an official social media post specifically addressing the matter.
It had said something along the lines of, "Recently, our cafeteria has received considerable criticism from the media and fans. Management is deeply concerned and will be upgrading the cafeteria."
In short, by comparison, Lu Chen suddenly felt he really had made the right choice by choosing IG...
"Oh, right, Chen," Baolan suddenly asked. "You said earlier that you had something to do this afternoon?"
"Yeah." Lu Chen looked over as though it were obvious. "I've got to go back and get my luggage."
"Oh, right." Baolan understood, then asked, "Do you need any help?"
"No." Lu Chen waved a hand. "I'm mostly just bringing a few changes of clothes."
After saying goodbye to Baolan, Lu Chen walked straight out of the club and took a taxi back to the apartment.
The moment he opened the door.
He saw Rita sitting on the living room sofa, watching television.
Hearing the door open, Rita gave a little start. "Little Chen?"
"Hehe." Lu Chen walked straight over and spread his arms with a grin. "Little Yu~ Did you miss me?"
"Get lost!" Rita rolled her eyes and reached out to push the young man away. "So, you came back to move your stuff?"
"Yep." Lu Chen shrugged, then grinned again. "Why? Can't bear to let me go?"
"Hmph." Refusing to be outdone, Rita held up her fingers with a tiny gap between them. "Just this teeny-tiny bit~"
The two laughed and teased each other for a while.
Then Rita went to help Lu Chen pack.
A few minutes later.
Staring at the single backpack before her, Rita began questioning everything. "You... you're only taking this much?"
Lu Chen raised an eyebrow and replied matter-of-factly, "What else? You didn't think I'd stop coming back to stay, did you? Besides, they've got everything there. A few clothes are all I need."
"Pfft." Rita scoffed, then huffed. "Fine. I suppose I'll grudgingly keep your room for you."
"I'm off, Little Yu."
Lu Chen picked up his backpack and walked to the door, then suddenly looked back. "Once I finish playing these next six months and have some money, let's buy a place for the two of us."
Rita was actually renting this apartment too.
They were both from Sichuan, so naturally neither owned property in Shanghai, where every inch of land cost a fortune.
"Sure." Rita lifted her fair chin slightly. "You'd better not be all talk. If you play badly in your matches, I'm not going to comfort you."
"Of course." A supremely confident smile tugged at Lu Chen's lips. "I'll be waiting for you to cast my matches."
With a wave, Lu Chen turned and left.
In the sunlight, the young man's clothes were whiter than snow, and he brimmed with confidence!
Watching him, Rita remained in a daze for a long time. Only after a while did she return to the apartment, a complicated expression on her face.
"Just you wait. While you work hard on the competitive stage, I'll be working hard at the caster's desk too!"
Before you continue
