Since it was daytime, none of the rows of food stalls along the river bend were open. Before coming ashore, Chen Jue had also deliberately checked the bank. Only after confirming that no bystanders were around did he climb out of the muddy river.
The Yun River and Pu River were both tributaries of the Yangtze River, and their waters carried a great deal of sediment. On top of that, the coastal waters off Jiangsu and Zhejiang were equally murky. After his marathon swim, there was no telling how much mud and yellow sand had stuck to him.
Once ashore, he caught a whiff of the river water's stench. It was utterly nauseating, but fortunately, he had skipped breakfast, so it did not affect his appetite just then.
I'll go home and shower first! Chen Jue thought. He exerted strength throughout his body to shake off the water and sediment, then strode forward and began running swiftly toward Chen Village.
When he had first obtained the Attribute Panel, Chen Jue had used a stopwatch to time his run from the village to town for a late-night snack. It had taken a little over ten minutes. Now, after a trip to outer space and back, his attributes had multiplied several times over. Running along these six-odd kilometers of mountain road again, he was almost unbelievably fast.
Rather than running, it was more like flying just above the ground!
On the only road leading into the mountains from town to Chen Village, a blurry afterimage hurtled past. Without a high-speed camera set up to capture it, there was simply no way to make out what it actually looked like!
As for the villagers sitting and chatting at their village entrances, all they saw was a black whirlwind flashing lightly past their eyes.
