The desire for knowledge was innate.
Only now did Xia Xu finally understand that poor students did not dislike learning. They simply could not get into it because of teaching methods, psychological resistance, difficulty resisting temptation, and other such reasons.
When learning became effortless, when you truly absorbed and understood what you learned, the wonderful feeling was no less compelling than an utterly addictive game, and even brought an extra measure of fulfillment and pride.
Chinese, math, foreign languages, physics, chemistry, even geography, history, and politics... All the high school textbooks together actually amounted to only fifty-four volumes. With the almost scanner-like memory afforded by Brain Overclocking, he memorized them all in less than half an hour.
As he memorized, Xia Xu kept digging out snacks like chocolate to replenish his energy and sugar. Although this could not entirely offset the consumption caused by Brain Overclocking, it did help maintain some balance between supply and demand. Even after successfully memorizing every textbook in one go, he still had energy to spare and wanted more.
"It'll still take time to fully understand and integrate everything, but handling exams definitely won't be a problem..."
Closing his eyes to briefly organize and review what he had just memorized, Xia Xu broke into a satisfied smile.
Memorizing knowledge and understanding it clearly could not be treated as the same thing. Although Brain Overclocking also greatly enhanced his thinking, information retrieval, and various other faculties, understanding and organizing knowledge to make it his own still took time. It could not be accomplished instantly like memorization.
Still, it was more than enough to handle exams. Exams tested material from the textbooks in the first place. Most of it tested recitation and memory, while nearly all the rest involved applying formulas and solving standard types of problems.
