An ordinary day passed in the tedium of reviewing for the Gaokao.
Only that evening did Xia Xu visit Meng Bochao's new home-the apartment Yang Bowen had rented to keep watch on Griffin Jones.
"I didn't get a chance to ask earlier. How did things go with the hit-and-run driver?"
Xia Xu pushed the door open and walked in, finally finding the time to ask the two about what had happened yesterday.
"It's all settled. I called the police myself and had him taken into custody."
Meng Bochao spoke gratefully, then added in excitement, "Boss, you're incredible! It really was that van! How on earth did you do it?"
"How else? Didn't I already tell you? I calculated it. If you don't believe me, make a program using the method I told you and run the calculations."
Xia Xu shrugged slightly.
"What about Brother Dog, then? What's his story? He was amazing-practically a superdog."
Meng Bochao pressed him excitedly.
Beside him, Yang Bowen quietly pricked up his ears, clearly very interested as well.
"A Tuo was injected with a special enhancement serum, so his physical capabilities are stronger."
Seeing how curious they were, Xia Xu could only give them a casual explanation, at a loss for words.
He also had a rough idea of what they would ask, so he headed them off. "But neither of you should get your hopes up for now. Werewolves developed this stuff, and it can only be used on creatures with wolf genes. Besides, I only managed to get this one finished dose."
It would have been impossible for the two not to feel disappointed at that.
But Meng Bochao also keenly picked up on a particular phrase his boss had used.
For now?
Did that mean they could get their hopes up later?
