"What's wrong with not having an appointment? You won't let us in without one? We're here to bring your company business. We're clients, understand?"
"Listen, young lady, this is a major project with guaranteed profits and no risk of loss. Even your boss would have to put on a smile for me, believe it or not."
"Haha, we don't have to go in. How about this? We won't trouble your boss. Why don't you talk business with us instead, beautiful? We'll book a table somewhere."
Just after coming out of the office, Xia Xu heard an argument at reception.
Three middle-aged men in suits and leather shoes, who looked like nothing more than salesmen despite their attire, were talking over one another at the reception desk. Although they weren't getting physical, their snickering still made Xia Xu frown.
"Funny, I don't remember anyone being important enough that I'd have to put on a smile for them."
Xia Xu cut the three men off coldly, strode over, and stopped between them and the reception desk.
"Boss."
At the sight of Xia Xu, Xiaoyue, the receptionist who had been looking rather flustered, immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Now that the boss had stepped in to handle things, this was no longer any concern of a lowly receptionist like her.
Besides, although her boss had a youthful face, having his tall, sturdy frame standing in front of her did make her feel quite safe.
"Boss? You?"
The three men hadn't quite registered Xia Xu's words at first. When they heard the receptionist call him "boss," they immediately laughed. "You're a company boss, kid?"
"Is there a problem?"
Xia Xu looked expressionlessly at the middle-aged man on the left who had spoken.
"Haha, no problem, no problem. It's perfect if you're the boss."
