"No way, Uncle Luo. You must be imagining things."
Xia Xu gave a dry laugh and hurriedly changed the subject. While Kirkclough dared not make any rash moves, he turned his back and discreetly slipped a black object into Luo Hongyun's arms. "Uncle Luo, see if you can use this?"
What he handed over was none other than a black pistol.
While collecting the four kidnappers' bodies before coming out, he had picked up their pistols. As a military ignoramus, though, he had no idea what models they were.
He had never even handled one before. So although he had brought them along, he had not dared use one in his hurried rescue of Luo Hongyun. Otherwise, he might have blown Luo Hongyun's head off instead of killing the enemy. His bow and arrows, with which he at least had some accuracy, were more reliable.
The same reasoning more or less applied now. Unless Luo Hongyun could kill Kirkclough with a single headshot, he really did not dare bring it out.
First, it might not even work.
The five bandits' corpses lying around them made that clear. He had spotted several more on his way here, too. All of them had been armed with guns, yet Uncle Luo had disposed of them without a scratch, each death more gruesome than the last.
Against Kirkclough, who was even more formidable and faster than Uncle Luo after equipping the mechanical Centipede Spine, a little pistol like this would probably have little effect.
Of course, that did not mean it could not hurt him, but that he would very likely dodge it. Bullets might be fast, but they did not need to be faster than bullets. They only needed to be faster than the person firing and outpace the shooter's predictions.
