"I heard you brought a Long-Leaf Sword Grass back from a Breakthrough Secret Realm, Professor Ye."
"I'm rather interested in plants like Long-Leaf Sword Grass, so I was hoping to come take a look."
"Oh." In a research institute, Professor Ye watered her flowers as she answered her phone, nodding. "I see."
She more or less understood. Lu Ran's dog excelled at using swords. He must have had a sudden whim to see whether Long-Leaf Sword Grass could serve as a sword.
"Normally, that wouldn't be a problem." Faced with Lu Ran's request, however, Professor Ye said regretfully:
"If you'd contacted me a little earlier, Professor Lu, you might still have had a chance."
"What happened?" Lu Ran asked in surprise.
"That Long-Leaf Sword Grass is almost dead under my care. It's already withered, and it's lost its toughness and sharpness. It's gone limp."
"If you want to see Long-Leaf Sword Grass, this really isn't a good time."
Lu Ran: ???
Grass-a kind of plant. Aren't you a botanist? How could you let it die!
"That's all right. Are you free right now, Professor Ye?" Lu Ran still wanted to take a look.
"Sure, come over. We should be living quite close to each other."
Professor Ye and Lu Ran were both professors in the Breeding Department, though one taught the Cultivation Major and the other the Culinary Major. Their research institutes weren't far apart. Before long, Lu Ran arrived for a visit. Professor Ye looked twenty-seven or twenty-eight. She wore a white lab coat, had a round face with faint freckles, and wore glasses beneath her short brown hair.
Upon seeing Lu Ran, Professor Ye addressed this promising young man ten years her junior. "Hello. It's nice to meet you."
"Hello."
After they shook hands in greeting, Professor Ye
