After winning Green Sea City's Bug-Fighting Tournament, Lu Ran discussed his plans to train his husky for hunting and resisted Fang Lan's efforts to make him focus on school. The chapter ended when Fang Lan sent him a post asking whether supernatural phenomena existed.
Lu Ran dismissed an online account about a mysterious card and an injured pet beast as a hoax, then received a similar black card himself and learned he had been identified as a potential Beast Tamer. The chapter left him realizing the strange post might have been true.
After receiving a Novice Contract Card, Lu Ran decided to become a Beast Tamer and chose his longtime pet husky, General Ha, as his partner. He activated the card, and its light engulfed General Ha.
Lu Ran contracted General Ha, strengthening them both and revealing a countdown to a newbie trial secret realm. As they prepared for the teleportation, Lu Ran armed himself and brought along a family pendant, while General Ha eagerly anticipated the battles ahead.
Lu Ran entered the Demon Cat Forest beginner trial with General Ha, only to discover that his supplies and weapon had not transferred with him. When a Demon Cat attacked, General Ha killed it in one strike, leaving Lu Ran impressed by his pet’s strength as they began the trial to survive for a day.
After General Ha killed a Demon Cat and gained a small boost in strength, Lu Ran considered using the trial realm to help him level up. They gathered useful resources while waiting for another enemy, but the chapter ended as five creatures approached from all directions.
Lu Ran and General Ha fought off a pack of Demon Cats, but the leader withdrew before the battle could turn against it. General Ha reached level 2, and Lu Ran’s family heirloom began glowing and revealed itself as an Epic Divine Deer Antler with the potential to develop healing power.
Lu Ran discovered that his family’s Divine Deer Pendant could heal General Ha, then used it to fight and level up aggressively in the Demon Cat Forest. With one minute left, General Ha reached level 4, completing the beginner trial with an S rating, and Lu Ran faced a choice of return destinations.
After clearing the Novice Trial, Lu Ran chose to return to Infinite City and examined the rewards and facilities available to Beast Tamers. He discovered his new beast-taming skill required him to imitate General Ha, and ended the chapter struggling to accept the idea of acting like a husky.
After passing the Novice Trial, Lu Ran met Little White Dragon Amid the Waves, an official recruiter who explained the history of Contract Black Cards and Beast Tamers. Lu Ran learned that he could decline to join the authorities, though every Beast Tamer had to register.
Lu Ran learned from Little White Dragon about Infinite City, secret realms, and the ways Beast Tamers advanced, while declining to join the authorities. The conversation left him with new questions about his pet beast’s attribute and the resources needed to awaken it.
Lu Ran learned about Attribute Fruits and Attribute Stones before testing General Ha’s latent attribute. General Ha revealed a rare Wind attribute, leaving Lu Ran to consider the potential of a flying husky.
After learning that Lu Ran had earned a grass fruit as a beginner reward, Little White Dragon took him to the Cat-Eared Maid Café, an intelligence agency, to find a wind fruit. The café found a trade opportunity with the Medicine Pavilion and offered to arrange the exchange in the Third Infinite City.
Lu Ran learned about lifestyle Beast Tamers, equipment services, and the choices between official organizations and guilds while considering whether to enter secret realms alone. He arranged to trade with the Medicine Pavilion and waited at the maid café for its representative to arrive.
Lu Ran traded his Grass Attribute Awakening Fruit for a Wind Attribute Awakening Fruit, then returned from Infinite City to find a flood of calls and messages from Fang Lan. Fang Lan revealed that she had also received a Black Card.
After Fang Lan became a Beast Tamer and entered Infinite City with her Great Xia Tarantula, Lu Ran worried while waiting for her to return. He then studied a training manual, learning how Beast Tamers and pet beasts progressed and that pet-beast training could be divided into four broad directions.
Lu Ran studied how pet beasts could develop energy techniques and evolve through new attributes and traits, then learned Super Beast Mimicry. He decided to train General Ha as a sword-wielding partner, leaving General Ha bewildered but intrigued by the promise of sword aura.
Lu Ran tested whether Super Beast Mimicry could help General Ha learn swordsmanship and discovered the dog could coat his wooden sword in energy, suggesting exceptional learning ability. As Lu Ran prepared to awaken General Ha’s Wind attribute at a secluded mountain base, Captain Luo learned that an evolved Siberian tiger had escaped and might be heading toward the same area.
Lu Ran brought General Ha to the hills behind Red Leaf Park and used a Wind Attribute Awakening Fruit to awaken his wind attribute, greatly increasing his speed and attack power. After General Ha’s wind-charged wooden sword shattered, a crow warned Lu Ran that a large yellow-and-black-striped cat had entered his territory.
Lu Ran and General Ha encountered an escaped Northeast Tiger that had killed its Beast Tamer, and General Ha defeated it before officials arrived. The chapter ended with Luo Shang finding Lu Ran calmly playing on his phone beside the subdued tiger and branch-wielding husky.
After helping police subdue a Siberian tiger, Lu Ran hurried to reunite with Fang Lan and compared their first secret-realm experiences. They discussed their ratings and possible Alliance roles, leaving Lu Ran surprised that Fang Lan had met a powerful First-Generation Beast Tamer, Gu Qingyi.
Little White Dragon learned that the authorities wanted Lu Ran recruited after discovering his family's long history with animals and wildlife. Meanwhile, Fang Lan heard about a new Beast Tamer university, and Gu Qingyi said the authorities would soon announce Infinite City and the Black Cards worldwide.
Lu Ran and Fang Lan discussed the imminent public announcement about Beast Tamers, then learned that Lu Ran’s connection to Gu Qingyi had impressed Little White Dragon and his supervisor. As Black Card information spread online, Lu Ran and Fang Lan considered second pet beasts, while Little White Dragon was assigned to help establish Beast Taming University’s Admissions Office.
Lu Ran and Fang Lan watched the authorities reveal Infinite City as the inheritance of a prehistoric beast-taming civilization, making supernatural powers public around the world. As the new age began, Lu Ran saw a classmate boast about receiving a Black Card and Fang Lan shared a fan’s accidental contract with a cockroach.
Lu Ran returned to Infinite City to have his meteoric iron ore forged into a sword for General Ha, while deciding to give the husky both combat training and academic lessons. At The Forge Home, Master Lin was stunned to learn the weapon was meant for a husky.
