Chen Beiwu knew nothing of the undercurrents stirring on the Other Shore Island.
He emerged from seclusion as planned, took out the map and finger bone, and searched the Other Shore Island for traces of the Earth Qilin.
"Five hundred years have passed. That qilin probably hasn't attained the status of a fifth-realm demon venerable yet."
Following the map, Chen Beiwu investigated the nearby resources as he advanced, without rushing recklessly ahead.
There was no other reason. Although Chen Beiwu coveted the Earth Qilin Li Wanquan had spoken of, he was not determined to obtain it at all costs.
After all, he already had enough contracted companion beasts. If nothing else worked, he could sell the information about the qilin to the Sect in exchange for rare resources.

With his divine sense obscured, Golden Egg turned his three heads from side to side to investigate, but he could not find any of the key terrain features marked on the map.
"Li Wanquan isn't capable of lying to my face yet." Chen Beiwu's expression remained calm.
The Other Shore Island was no ordinary island, but the place where the Cangyuan Realm's root dragon vein lay hidden. Changes in its earth veins and spirit veins causing a drastic transformation of its terrain would be perfectly normal. With that in mind, Chen Beiwu merely used the map as a guide to the general direction, rather than pinpointing the qilin's hiding place through key features of the surrounding terrain. Suddenly, his ears twitched as he heard a faint, unusual vibration.
Golden Egg, Iron Egg, Xuele, and Zhiling all instinctively looked at him.
"Someone's coming. Let's keep ourselves hidden."
As Chen Beiwu's thought reached them, Golden Egg and Xuele acted simultaneously. One used Great Expansion Determining Truth
