Ch. 41Preparations! The Underground World!

As war with the Demon Race threatened, Lin Ke began carving out an underground refuge beneath Golden Silkworm Peak for the people of Green Mulberry Garden. Zong Ya returned with Mystic Vein Books and suggested Glowshrooms to solve the refuge’s lighting and food problems, then set out to buy supplies.

  • Lin Ke told the farmers that war was approaching and offered to shelter them underground beneath Golden Silkworm Peak, and they eagerly agreed.
  • Lin Ke flew to Golden Silkworm Peak and used Mountain-Moving and Sea-Overturning and Turn Earth to Steel to excavate a large underground space, but found it dark, damp, and poorly ventilated.
  • Zong Ya arrived and said the sect was in chaos, she could not buy supplies, and she had resigned from her Spirit Insect Cave post after buying two Mystic Vein Books so she and Lin Ke could stay in contact.
  • Lin Ke showed Zong Ya the refuge and explained his plan to shelter the mortals there.
  • Zong Ya suggested buying Glowshrooms at the Yi-Wa Market because they could provide light and attract underground insects, then went to buy supplies while Lin Ke continued expanding the refuge.

Ch. 42Live Like a Mayfly, or Become an Immortal Patriarch?

Lin Ke prepared an underground refuge for the people of Green Mulberry Garden as war approached, while Zong Ya went to buy supplies. He advised Fang Tong to leave the dangerous choice of joining the sect to Fang Mang, and the chapter ended with Fang Mang facing the decision of what kind of life he wanted.

  • Lin Ke and Zong Ya divided their preparations, with Lin Ke fortifying Golden Silkworm Peak and Zong Ya heading to Yi-Wa Market for supplies.
  • Fang Tong brought the people of Green Mulberry Garden to Lin Ke's tunnel, where Lin Ke reassured them and said they would wait for supplies before moving inside.
  • Lin Ke asked Fang Tong whether Fang Mang should join the sect despite the danger of the coming war.
  • Fang Tong asked Lin Ke for guidance, torn between his son's chance to cultivate and the risk that he would die in battle.
  • Lin Ke warned that joining the sect was more likely to lead to death than survival, but urged Fang Tong to let Fang Mang choose whether he wanted an ordinary life or the chance to become an immortal patriarch.

Ch. 43Everyone Can Cultivate!

Lin Ke promised the Green Mulberry Garden farmers that he would give them a chance to cultivate, while he and Zong Ya prepared an underground refuge amid signs that war was approaching. The farmers waited for the Transmission Elder, and Lin Ke left them with hope of changing their futures.

  • Fang Mang told Lin Ke he wanted to learn to fly, and Lin Ke promised to help him cultivate once the Transmission Elder was available.
  • Lin Ke continued excavating the underground world until Zong Ya returned from Yi-Wa Market and reported that most people had fled in fear of an impending war.
  • Zong Ya brought farming seeds for Fang Tong and the other mortals, while Lin Ke explained to himself why their work raising insects and feeding Lin Can was valuable.
  • Zong Ya offered to help Lin Ke with the relocation, and he reassured her that he knew what he was doing.
  • Lin Ke told the Green Mulberry Garden farmers that he hoped to let them all cultivate someday, leaving them stunned and excited.

Ch. 44Great Changes in the Sect! Expanding the Frontiers!

Lin Ke and Zong Ya led the Green Mulberry Garden’s mortals into the underground refuge and lit its seven levels with Glowshrooms. At the Year Festival Square, Rain Spider True Person declared war against the demon race and announced that the Golden Wing Sect would expand its territory.

  • Li Cuihua asked whether she could cultivate, and Lin Ke said she might have an opportunity in the future.
  • Zong Ya and Lin Ke planted Glowshrooms throughout all seven underground levels while the Green Mulberry Garden’s mortals prepared to build houses.
  • Lin Ke and Zong Ya left for the Year Festival Square after Rain Spider True Person summoned the sect’s disciples.
  • Rain Spider True Person declared that the demon race had broken the pact and called for the Golden Wing Sect to fight back.
  • Rain Spider True Person opened the sect-protecting formation, appointed Nascent Soul elders as Peak Seats, and promised fiefs to disciples who conquered and held territory.

Ch. 45The sect has called-fight and return!

Rain Spider True Person announced that the Golden Wing Sect would mobilize against the Demon Race and encourage disciples to claim territory, while nascent soul Peak Seats and golden core Personal Disciples answered the sect’s war summons. As the sect prepared for battle, Lin Ke decided to accelerate construction of the underground world beneath Golden Silkworm Peak.

  • Rain Spider True Person explained that disciples who conquered territory could bring it under a Peak Seat’s protection, and Lin Ke considered the opportunities while acknowledging his limited strength.
  • Rain Spider True Person announced that the Grand Elders had learned the Demon Race intended to wage war against humans and ordered the Peak Seats to take their positions.
  • Nascent soul powerhouses, including Fly True Person, White Dew True Person, and Spider Mother, departed to fight.
  • Rain Spider True Person used a Mystic Vein Book to issue a sect war summons, which brought replies from more than a hundred golden core Personal Disciples.
  • Lin Ke anticipated danger and opportunity ahead, then resolved to speed up construction beneath Golden Silkworm Peak.

Ch. 46Meeting and arrangements

Lin Ke and Zong Ya made plans for the coming conflict, with Lin Ke preparing to deal with Li Le while Zong Ya stayed behind to protect the Green Mulberry Garden. He revealed Lin Can to Zong Ya and asked her to keep the unusual cultivator secret.

  • After Rain Spider True Person dismissed the sect, Lin Ke and Zong Ya returned to the Green Mulberry Garden to prepare for the upheaval.
  • Lin Ke told Zong Ya to stay hidden and practice her spells while he dealt with Li Le, promising to take her out later if he found reliable companions.
  • Lin Ke led Zong Ya to the seventh underground level and introduced her to Lin Can, whom he had kept secret.
  • Lin Ke explained Lin Can's cultivation, appetite, and ability to command the Stinger Hawk Moth, and asked Zong Ya to care for her while he was away.
  • Zong Ya agreed to keep Lin Can's existence between herself and Lin Ke and warned that they needed to be careful.

Ch. 47Building an Underground City!

Lin Ke built a sewage system and bathing facilities for the people of Green Mulberry Garden as he prepared to turn the underground levels into a safer home. The chapter left him ready to use the increased Blackgold Silkworm Silk to make inner armor.

  • Lin Can ordered the Stinger Hawk Moth to bring her food from the sixth level while Lin Ke and Zong Ya discussed ventilation and waste disposal.
  • Lin Ke decided to build a biogas digester and underground facilities so the mortals could stay safe when the sect's grand formation opened.
  • Lin Ke dug a septic tank and sewers, then created separate toilets and a bathing room and explained how Fang Tong's people should use them.
  • Fang Tong reported that Blackgold Silkworm Silk production had increased by about one tael over five days and that the insects were growing and laying more eggs.
  • Lin Ke asked Fang Tong to give him the surplus silk so he could make a suit of Blackgold Silk Inner Armor.

Ch. 48Blood Sandalwood Frog

Lin Ke brought Blackgold Silkworm Silk to Yi-Wa Market to trade for useful supplies amid panic buying. He sold it for fifty Spirit Stones and bought a breeding pair of Blood Sandalwood Frogs, intending to raise them for artifact-refining materials.

  • Lin Ke decided to barter his Blackgold Silkworm Silk rather than use it for practice, and went to the crowded Yi-Wa Market.
  • Lin Ke offered the silk at a stall and rejected several trades before hearing someone sell Blood Sandalwood Frogs for Spirit Stones.
  • Lin Ke sold the Blackgold Silkworm Silk for fifty Spirit Stones and approached the boy selling the frogs.
  • The boy insisted that Lin Ke promise not to kill Big Red and Little Red, and Lin Ke agreed to use them for breeding.
  • Lin Ke offered fifty Spirit Stones for the frogs, and the boy accepted.

Ch. 49An Unexpected Success

Lin Ke brought Blood Sandalwood Frogs into the Niwan Palace and tried breeding one with a Red-Striped Frog to create a new species for Lin Can to produce. The Red-Striped Frog survived the first mating, leaving Lin Ke wondering whether the experiment had succeeded.

  • Zong Ya explained that the Blood Sandalwood Frogs could reproduce in winter and that Red-Striped Frogs were also raised on the sixth level.
  • Lin Ke asked Zong Ya to bring him several Red-Striped Frogs and told Lin Can she might produce a new breed instead of more Amethyst Longhorn Beetles.
  • Lin Can brought the Red-Striped Frogs, and Lin Ke took them and the Blood Sandalwood Frogs into the Niwan Palace.
  • Lin Ke paired a male Blood Sandalwood Frog with a female Red-Striped Frog, and the Red-Striped Frog did not burst apart and die.

Ch. 50Reveal Some of His Talent?

Lin Ke successfully bred two frog eggs from the Blood Sandalwood Frogs and Red-Striped Frogs, and one hatched into a tadpole that he placed in a newly made pool. Zong Ya proposed that they reveal some of their breeding talent to attract the elders’ attention, while Lin Ke remained wary of exposing their secrets.

  • Lin Ke bred the Blood Sandalwood Frogs with Red-Striped Frogs and obtained two eggs, which Lin Can ate and used to produce a large egg.
  • A scarlet tadpole hatched, and Lin Ke created pools on the sixth level and placed it in the water.
  • Lin Ke told Zong Ya that the frogs had mated successfully, and she connected the result to his idea of artifact refining.
  • Zong Ya proposed that they focus on breeding spirit insects and let others handle other trades, while revealing some of their abilities to gain the elders’ attention.
  • Lin Ke questioned whether exposing their secrets was safe, but Zong Ya offered to shoulder the risk.

Ch. 51All-Powerful Senior Sister? Rewards Distributed!

Zong Ya planned to take on several professions to support Green Mulberry Garden while Lin Ke prepared to venture beyond the sect to seek food, water, and opportunities. Just as Lin Ke was about to leave, Fang Du arrived with the reward for Lin Ke’s victory in the Sect Grand Tournament.

  • Zong Ya said she would become a Spirit Planter, Forging Master, Seamstress, and Alchemist, relying on Lin Ke to grow stronger and secure resources.
  • Lin Ke considered ways to supply Green Mulberry Garden with food and water, then decided to venture beyond the sect borders to find a solution and seek opportunities.
  • Lin Ke told Zong Ya to protect Lin Can, produce three red tadpoles for every Amethyst Longhorn Beetle, and remain wary of Li Le; he spent nearly all his spirit stones on tools and manuals for Zong Ya.
  • The next day, Fang Du visited Lin Ke at Golden Silkworm Peak, having broken through to the Dao Foundation realm after his final battle with Lin Quan-meng.
  • Fang Du congratulated Lin Ke on winning the Sect Grand Tournament and delivered the first-place reward entrusted to him by Rain Spider True Person.

Ch. 52Fang Du and the Amethyst Longhorn Beetle

Lin Ke accepted the Grand Competition rewards Fang Du delivered, then sold him a newly hatched Amethyst Longhorn Beetle for 350 spirit stones. After Fang Du refined it into his Gu Insect, he remarked on its appetite.

  • Fang Du delivered Lin Ke the competition rewards and invited him to sell an Amethyst Longhorn Beetle for Fang Du's upcoming life-and-death battles.
  • Lin Ke agreed to sell one for 350 spirit stones and said he had a newly hatched beetle ready.
  • Lin Ke asked Zong Ya to entertain Fang Du while Lin Can accelerated an Amethyst Longhorn Beetle's growth.
  • Lin Ke returned with the beetle, and Fang Du refined it into his Gu Insect using Miaojiang Gu Art.
  • Fang Du praised the beetle and noted that it had quite an appetite.

Ch. 53Genius Ranking! Heavenly Prodigy Ranking!

Fang Du warned Lin Ke and Zong Ya that the Discipline Hall would require Dao Foundation disciples to claim territory or kill demons each month, and would rank disciples with rewards for the strongest. Lin Ke agreed to travel with Fang Du toward the northern front, where he learned about the surrounding regions and considered the Golden Wing Sect’s possible role in provoking the war.

  • Fang Du tested the Amethyst Longhorn Beetle’s Amethyst Carapace, thanked Lin Ke and Zong Ya, and told Lin Ke about the Discipline Hall’s monthly requirements and new rankings.
  • Fang Du warned that True Person Yuan Yong’s ties to a Discipline Hall elder might cause trouble for Lin Ke, and explained that the Genius Ranking’s top hundred disciples would receive monthly rewards.
  • Lin Ke agreed to travel with Fang Du, and the two set out together toward the front to fight demons.
  • During their flight, Fang Du described the regions and neighboring sects north of the Golden Wing Sect.
  • Lin Ke reflected that the Golden Wing Sect might have provoked the conflict to create an opportunity for territorial expansion.

Ch. 54Target! The Boundless Poison Tempering Mountains!

Lin Ke and Fang Du traveled beyond the sect’s protection array to hunt for spirit insects and treasures, but Fang Du’s assignment to capture a Spirit Spring concealed a trap. Five cultivators arrived, revealing that Fang Du had led Lin Ke out so they could seize him for Li Le.

  • Fang Du suggested Lin Ke join the Guard Hall, but Lin Ke declined until he had secured his position in Green Mulberry Garden.
  • Lin Ke and Fang Du flew beyond the sect’s territory and descended into a vast mountain range, where Lin Ke shared his goals of collecting spirit insects and finding treasures.
  • Fang Du said his mission was to capture a Spirit Spring, prompting Lin Ke to suspect a misunderstanding.
  • Zhang and Ma arrived with three others and thanked Fang Du for luring Lin Ke out so they could capture him for Li Le.

Ch. 55Encirclement and Counter-Encirclement

Lin Ke lured Zhang Zhihua’s group into an ambush and joined forces with Zong Ya, Han Yun, Han Fu, and Fang Du to fight them. As Lin Ke moved to kill Zhang Zhihua, Li Le intervened, revealed his preparations, and threatened Lin Ke and his senior sister.

  • Fang Du rejected Zhang Zhihua’s offer to turn against Lin Ke and prepared to fight alongside him.
  • Zong Ya, Han Yun, and Han Fu arrived as reinforcements after Lin Ke had arranged for them to follow.
  • Lin Ke ordered the five attackers killed, and both sides paired off and began fighting.
  • Fang Du overwhelmed Senior Sister Ma, broke her Spiritual Power Barrier, and struck her down with his hammer.
  • Lin Ke launched an earthen spike at Zhang Zhihua, but Li Le shattered it and announced his intent to kill Lin Ke and rape his senior sister.

Ch. 56Sword Cultivator! Clear Spring Sword Intent!

Lin Ke confronted Li Le, who relied on his powerful connections and a spirit-grade superior Flying Sword to threaten him. Huang Fuqi and Shi Ping arrived to support Lin Ke, and the group pursued Li Le’s fleeing allies while Huang Fuqi guarded Li Le until his Mysterious Light Talisman expired.

  • Li Le arrived with Zhang Zhihua and the others, gave them Crimson Cultivation Pills, and threatened Lin Ke, Zong Ya, Fang Du, Han Yun, and Han Fu.
  • Li Le activated a spirit-grade superior Flying Sword, but Lin Ke stayed composed and challenged him to use something more than the weapon.
  • Huang Fuqi and Shi Ping arrived, and Huang Fuqi attacked Li Le with his jade sword, knocking away Li Le’s Flying Sword but failing to pierce his Origin-tier Mysterious Light Talisman.
  • Huang Fuqi told Lin Ke that Li Le’s talisman would last only half an incense stick and promised to stop Li Le from escaping while Lin Ke handled the others.
  • Zhang Zhihua and Li Le’s companions fled, and Lin Ke and his allies chased them, with Lin Ke telling them to keep any treasures they found.

Ch. 57Kill!

Lin Ke used the chance Fang Du’s arrival gave him to eliminate Li Le’s followers and corner Li Le. He threatened to kill Li Le and destroy his soul, leaving the confrontation unresolved.

  • Lin Ke tricked Zhang Zhihua into lowering his guard, then killed him with an Earth Spike and Bone Spike and took his corpse.
  • Lin Ke ordered his allies to kill the fleeing attackers, then helped Zong Ya kill her opponent.
  • Lin Ke and the others killed everyone except Li Le and surrounded him.
  • Li Le warned the group that he had notified his father, True Person Yuan Yong, but Lin Ke dismissed the threat and promised to destroy Li Le’s soul.

Ch. 58Li Le, die!

Lin Ke confronted Li Le over his past crimes and killed him after Li Le exposed Zong Ya's Profound Kun Sacred Yin Body. With Li Le dead, Lin Ke thanked his allies, and Huang Fuqi suggested they travel together.

  • Lin Ke reminded Li Le of his attempts to harm him and Zong Ya, and rejected Li Le's pleas for mercy.
  • Li Le revealed that Zong Ya had the Profound Kun Sacred Yin Body, prompting Huang Fuqi to warn everyone to keep the matter secret.
  • Li Le attacked the group with his remaining treasures, but Huang Fuqi blocked his assaults while the group kept him trapped.
  • As Li Le's protective talisman faded and his strength ran out, Lin Ke cut off his head and put it in his Storage Bag.
  • Lin Ke thanked the others for their help, and Huang Fuqi invited him to travel together.

Ch. 59Assembling the Team! Reaching Their Destination!

Lin Ke welcomed Han Yun and Han Fu into his group, divided the spoils from the fight with Li Le, and set out with his companions to a site rich in spirit insects. The group reached the hill Fang Du had recommended, where they planned to explore or claim an insect habitat.

  • Han Yun asked to travel with Lin Ke, who welcomed him and invited Han Fu to stay with Zong Ya at the Green Mulberry Garden.
  • Lin Ke reassured Fang Du, then distributed the Storage Bags taken from Li Le and the other slain enemies among the group.
  • Lin Ke introduced the group members, while Zong Ya and Han Fu returned together to the Kissing Mulberry Garden.
  • Fang Du suggested visiting a hidden world inside a hill where spirit insects gathered, and Lin Ke agreed to follow his lead.
  • Fang Du guided Lin Ke, Huang Fuqi, Shi Ping, and Han Yun through the war-torn Poison Tempering Mountains to the hill.

Ch. 60The mysterious spirit insect

Fang Du led Lin Ke and the others into an underground cave to capture its spirit insects and claim it for the sect. After the group split up to search, Lin Ke was ambushed by an invisible creature and trapped it inside a tightening cage of rocks.

  • Fang Du revealed a hidden cave beneath a withered tree and proposed capturing its spirit insects before claiming the area.
  • Lin Ke and the others entered the cave, where Lin Ke sensed an approaching spirit insect before Huang Fuqi did.
  • Huang Fuqi took on the Sand Midge, and the group split up to search the cave for more insects.
  • An unseen creature struck Lin Ke, shattered his spiritual barrier, and knocked him backward despite his Amethyst Carapace.
  • Lin Ke used Mountain-Moving and Sea-Overturning to trap himself and the invisible attacker inside a narrowing enclosure of rocks.
