The flame was far too small.
In fact, it was very difficult to see directly with the naked eye alone.
Su Ping finally understood why repeated inspections had failed to turn up anything.
If this thing hid among real flames inside the Fire-Nurturing Domain, there would be absolutely nothing to see.
Besides, since it came from that mysterious Fire Phoenix, it stood to reason that it possessed all sorts of abilities to conceal itself.
Su Ping let out a long breath, then directly prompted it with his mental power:
"Who are you? Why have you appeared inside my Beast Taming Space?"
"..."
An unintelligible sound came from the flame.
Su Ping narrowed his eyes slightly and instinctively listened with his mental power.
Sure enough, this was the language of the Serpent Script from the Ancient Era:
"Humans... despicable... betrayers..."
The voice was halting, but its words immediately made Su Ping frown.
What a rude little flame.
Frowning, Su Ping continued through Mental Communication:
"Is there some misunderstanding? Who exactly are you?"
Since the other party was being rude, Su Ping naturally had neither reason nor need to be polite.
However, when he repeated his question, the flame flickered slightly and made another sound.
Su Ping hurriedly caught it with his mental power. This time, however, what it said left him stunned:
"Who... am... I?"
The little flame asked itself that same question, then, with a soft puff,
After swaying a few times, the little thing dropped back among the birds.
The tiny flame seemed to realize that it had been exposed and simply stopped hiding under Su Ping's observation.
But Su Ping blinked, somewhat bewildered.
This thing did not even know who it was? Then why did it harbor such hostility toward him, or even toward humanity as a whole?
