| Ordinary seventh rank | 27 | Reached later that afternoon under the tea’s continuing effects. His breakthrough raised Xiao Qing to ordinary sixth rank and increased Connection Sharing’s capacity from fifteen beasts to seventeen. |
Background / History
Su Ping is a transmigrator who has lived in the beast-taming world for years and largely adjusted to it. He grew up at his family’s Forest Wolf breeding base and had the strongest meditation progress at his school. After graduating and awakening, he returned to Woodheart primarily to investigate the Myriad Spirits Codex 1 15 50.
His father, Su Anyong, invited him home to develop Woodheart, then departed for Beihan City to meet a potential partner, leaving the base in Su Ping’s hands. Su Anyong nevertheless reserved a rare mutant Forest Wolf cub for his son, refusing an offer of twelve million yuan. Su Ping contracted the cub and named it Xiao Qing after its emerald-green coloring 1 2.
Su Ping had previously rejected Zhang Guowei’s offer involving a commander-potential Scythe Giant Centipede. He preferred independence to an arrangement that could bind him to a company through debt and employment obligations 6 7.
Appearance
Su Ping is described as handsome, with a steadiness unusual for a newly graduated young man. Qin Xiaoxue finds him attractive once he has washed away the grime from his work 16.
- Youthful appearance: Customers initially doubt his breeding expertise because he looks his age 16 34.
- Working attire: Uses protective gear while brewing pungent potions and a mask while sorting Forest Wolf droppings 11 42.
Personality
Su Ping treats pet beasts with sincerity rather than affection alone. After Xiao Qing injures another wolf in a spar, he provides treatment, comforts the defeated cub, and reprimands Xiao Qing for bullying its companions. He regards Woodheart’s beasts as one family and promises to help every Forest Wolf acquire Woodheart 10.
He is cautious about exposing valuable discoveries. Rather than sell an easily reproduced potion, he markets training services; when questioned by senior breeders, he deliberately adopts the bearing of an aloof genius. After gaining influential supporters, he becomes more willing to display his abilities but resolves to advance steadily rather than unveil breakthroughs across many species at once 12 23 27.
His ambition is extraordinary beast-taming power, not simply wealth or professional prestige. He limits customer intake when business threatens to consume his training time, and later acknowledges that his certification rests heavily on the Codex rather than his own breeding knowledge. Xiao Qing’s uncertain evolutionary future motivates him to become a genuinely capable breeder 40 42 44.
He also has a dry, teasing sense of humor and little patience for pointless rivalry. He ignores Zhou Shuchen’s group-chat mockery, remains composed during their confrontation, and turns Zhou’s challenge into a paid rental battle 7 29 31.
Abilities & Skills
Pet Beast Home
Su Ping’s original awakened talent allows uncontracted wild pet beasts to enter his beast-taming space 1.
- A beast’s level cannot exceed Su Ping’s own, and the space must have sufficient room 1 50.
- The talent is commonly useful for logistics, storage, and transportation rather than direct combat 7.
- Su Ping plans to combine it with the Codex’s assistance in building affinity and directing beasts, allowing him to develop a force beyond his soul-contracted pets 50.
Myriad Spirits Codex
The Codex appeared alongside his awakening. Its species records develop through contact, affinity, time spent with beasts, and discoveries about their growth 1 4 10.
| Record milestone | Chapter | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Forest Wolf record activated at LV1 | 2 | Granted True Eye as its origin reward. |
| Forest Wolf record became eligible for LV2 | 18 | Reached 514/500 experience after Su Ping increased an elite ninth-tier wolf’s affinity; an upgrade prompt appeared. |
| Falling Seed Pine affinity threshold reached | 48 | Pinecone’s improved affinity produced a new Codex record. |
| Falling Seed Pine record activated at LV1 | 49 | Granted mind communication as its origin reward. |
- Formula improvement: Perfected the Woodheart Potion formula, identifying Wolf Smoke Grass as a required ingredient 4.
- Affinity-based experience: Contact with an ordinary Forest Wolf meeting the affinity requirement grants ten experience, followed by one per subsequent day together 10.
- Exceptional-specimen rewards: Discovering Old Sha’s advancement beyond the Forest Wolf species limit grants one hundred experience, with two more per day spent together 4.
- Mutation analysis: Offered to explain poison-type Forest Wolf mutations and provide a cultivation method for 50,000 experience; the quoted cost later fell to 49,990 after Xiao Qing’s poison-training experiment 13 43.
- No contract requirement for activation: Su Ping can activate a species record through sufficient intimacy with a beast belonging to someone else, as demonstrated with Li Shu’s Pinecone 42 48 49.
True Eye
A Codex-granted Beast Tamer ability that consumes mental power to inspect beasts 2.
- Reveals species, attributes, current level, species potential, skills, and skill proficiency 2 9 14.
- Allows Su Ping to verify potion effects, mutations, and training breakthroughs directly 13 14 45.
- Identifies Old Sha’s commander-level cultivation despite the Forest Wolf species’ elite-level potential ceiling 4 9.
Connection Sharing
Connection Sharing accelerates skill development through linked group practice. Su Ping uses it to train Forest Wolves together in Sunlight Absorption, Self-Healing, and Tree Vine Strangulation 20 27.
- Initially links fifteen beasts; ordinary seventh rank raises the limit to seventeen 20 27.
- Produces multiple skill and cultivation breakthroughs within half a day of Sunlight Absorption training 20.
- Transfers benefits from ordinary Tree Vine Strangulation practice to Xiao Qing’s mutated Poison Vine Strangulation 44.
- Su Ping’s commercial proficiency training is limited to Forest Wolf racial skills and the Woodheart skill he developed, rather than every skill a customer’s beast possesses 24.
Mind Communication
Granted by the Falling Seed Pine record, this ability lets Su Ping concentrate mental power to sense a pet beast’s intended meaning and communicate telepathically 49.
- Reduces his dependence on interpreting cries, gestures, and behavior 49.
- Helps him understand Forest Wolves more directly during breeding and training 49.
- His first attempt with Pinecone yields only faint sensations; he is unsure whether this reflects his inexperience or the pine’s youth 49.
Meditation and Soul-Contract Feedback
Su Ping’s meditation aptitude was the best at his school. His contract with Xiao Qing improves meditation efficiency, while advancement on either side of their soul bond can strengthen the other 2 15.
- Uses Spirit-Nurturing Ancient Tea to advance from ordinary fifth to seventh rank in one afternoon 27.
- Learns about advanced meditation methods from Qin Xiaoxue, including her Myriad Manifestations Meditation Method; the supplied chapters do not show him acquiring or practicing it 26.
- Receives advice to consider a plant- or undead-type second pet for the Demon City Advanced Beast Taming Academy’s advanced meditation methods 26.
Breeding and Experimental Training
Su Ping’s most successful practical development is the perfected Woodheart Potion, described as having a one hundred percent chance of awakening Woodheart 12.
- Raises Little Dot from ordinary third to sixth tier and awakens Woodheart and Accelerated Growth 13.
- Gives Xiao Qing Mutated Poison Woodheart, raising its species potential to commander third tier 13 14.
- Tests reduced potion doses and records the wolves’ reactions rather than relying only on full-bottle applications 45.
- Prepares emergency treatment before testing Xiao Qing’s tolerance for wolfbane aconite 43.
- Investigates Wolf Smoke Grass separately, but reports no notable effects from tests on laboratory mice 50.
- Recognizes his limited independent knowledge of breeding and evolution despite his Intermediate Breeder standing 44.
Woodheart Business
Su Ping protects his potion formula by selling boarding, breeding, and training rather than the potion itself. His first customer receives a success-based agreement: no preliminary expenses or material charges if he fails to teach Woodheart 12 16.
| Service / Milestone | Documented terms |
|---|---|
| Wooden Head’s Woodheart training | Initially agreed at 3.5 million yuan. Qin Xiaoxue pays five million; 4.45 million is credited after tax 16 23. |
| Racial-skill proficiency training | 200,000 yuan per skill-level improvement from beginner to proficient; 800,000 per upgrade from proficient to mastery. Perfection-level pricing remains undecided 24. |
| Ordinary-rank Forest Wolf rentals | Yuntian guarantees 500 yuan per wolf per day, plus 500 per battle 28. |
| Elite-rank Forest Wolf rentals | Yuntian guarantees 1,200 yuan per wolf per day, plus 1,200 per battle 28. |
| Rental safeguards | Includes recuperation, treatment, and accident insurance. Su Ping requires the right to suspend rentals when necessary 28. |
| Professional recognition | Vice President Liu personally delivers his Intermediate Forest Wolf Specialist Breeder certification and registers Woodheart’s training services 37. |
| Customer intake limit | Accepts only one Forest Wolf for training each week, with advance booking 42. |
- Refuses to sell his Forest Wolves or the family land left by his grandfather 11 12 28.
- Spends most of his first major payment on twenty batches’ worth of potion ingredients and poison resources for Xiao Qing 28.
- Separates his private phone number from Woodheart’s reception line after the Association’s endorsement triggers excessive inquiries 42.
- Stops returning to Yuntian for rentals after becoming wary of its acquisition interest and finding constant supervision exhausting 39 42.
- Considers assistants and a more organized breeding operation to preserve time for his own training while expanding access to beasts for the Codex 40.
