Hearing the two staff members' words, Xu Ran felt for a moment that he must have misheard.
Once he realized what they meant, an expression of exasperated amusement appeared on his face. "Gentlemen, that isn't actually what happened."
"Please explain. We came today to understand the situation." The staff member was quite friendly and took out a pen and paper, ready to take notes.
"You should both know that if a Contract Beast wants to leave with its Beast Tamer, there's nothing I can do to stop it." Xu Ran spread his hands. "After all, they only need to summon their Contract Beast to take it away."
"I'm just an ordinary Boarding Shop owner. I don't have the ability to intercept someone's summoning."
Hearing this, the two Association staff members exchanged a glance.
Indeed, this was the biggest question surrounding the matter.
"Then what exactly happened?" the other staff member couldn't help asking.
"Here's what happened." Xu Ran paused briefly to organize his thoughts before continuing. "Around noon yesterday, that Foolish Badger came to our shop on its own, offered a resource to cover its boarding fees, and asked to board here."
Seeing their expressions grow increasingly strange, Xu Ran spread his hands. "It is rather bizarre. I was surprised at the time, too."
"Back then, I even thought it was a wild Supernatural Creature."
"Once it pays, it's a customer," Xu Ran said calmly. "As a shopkeeper, it's perfectly reasonable for me to serve my customer and prepare a suitable boarding environment for it, isn't it?"
The two staff members nodded instinctively at Xu Ran's question.
There was certainly nothing wrong with that.
"Then what about Mr. Kang Cheng's complaint that you prevented him from seeing his Contract Beast?" The lead staff member stopped his rapid note-taking and asked.
