Arc 21The Harvester’s First Season
Li Long repaired herder families’ homes and wells, earned recognition for his ethnic-unity work, and brought home a harvester from Kuytun. As villagers hired him to cut their wheat, his success attracted Wei Tianxing’s attention and prompted him to seek a machine of his own.
- Li Long recruited a crew to repair Harimu’s and Jade Mountain River’s homes, built hand-pump wells for both families, and was interviewed by Ye Laya and Zhang Xinhua about his work.
- After the cooperative’s leaders recognized Li Long’s contribution and the Xinjiang Autonomous Region Daily reported his story, he received an ethnic-unity commendation and met Aiyidaxi in Wu City.
- Li Long visited Li Anguo and the others in Kuytun, helped with their paperwork, and bought a harvester from Du Tongzhou before returning home.
- Harimu thanked Li Long for helping his family, and Li Long supplied him and the other herders with ammunition, radios, medicine, and sheep as they exchanged gifts and support.
- After Li Anguo and Yang Yongqiang returned as permanent workers, Li Long began harvesting wheat for villagers at two yuan per mu and quickly filled his schedule with jobs.
- Li Long refused to sell the harvester to Wei Tianxing, who then tried to pressure Li Jianguo to persuade him to sell it.
- Li Long continued harvesting fields for cash and wheat, while Wei Tianxing watched his work and decided to travel to Kuytun to buy a harvester himself.
