The buckshot from their muskets worked reasonably well against the Rotting Hounds. The powerful impacts blasted them away, and although they could still get up after their bodily tissues were damaged, their impaired movements made them much less of a threat.
But soon, two heavily armored halberd guards joined the battle.
The fight began to turn one-sided, because Polaris and the others discovered that their muskets could barely deal any effective damage to them.
Bang-clang, clatter!
The small steel pellets dented the metal armor but struggled to penetrate it. The two burly guards swung their halberds, instantly cleaving Ma Ren and Wangwuji in half. They dissolved into white light.
"-Fuck this! One-shotted!"
"-Polaris, buddy, we'll wait for you at the respawn point in Jack Manor. Hurry up and die!"
With three fewer companions to draw fire, Polaris and Su Keying did not hold out much longer either. They gritted their teeth and fired, blasting several more guards to death before a flurry of sword strikes quickly cut them down.
All five players died in succession, and the Church hall immediately fell deathly silent.
The two monks surveyed the wreckage with grim expressions. The bodies of guards and Rotting Hounds lay strewn everywhere. Wooden pews stood askew or lay overturned, some smashed into splinters.
"Where did these suicidal attackers come from?! How dare they storm our Church!"
"Investigate! We must find whoever sent them! Tear him to pieces and bury him in Lady Rose's garden to repent for ten thousand years!"
The two monks nearly ground their teeth to pieces, then coldly ordered the guards to start cleaning everything up. One monk turned and left, preparing to report the attack on the Church to Bishop Newman.
The cleanup was only halfway done.
