"Abuse of police powers is nothing new. Strict enforcement procedures and maintaining the integrity of the force are things the Police Force has always advocated. Every citizen has the right to supervise you.
"What, is your work so shameful that it can't stand scrutiny?" Gu Sheng said unhurriedly.
Apple was at a loss for words. She wanted to argue, but found it hard to speak.
The Hong Kong Island police were heavy-handed at this time anyway. Besides, however careful they were, anyone determined to watch them could always find fault.
"But... I'm getting a little bored too. I don't mind agreeing to your request," Gu Sheng said casually.
What was a huge problem for them took only a few casual words from Gu Sheng. That was reality.
Apple felt both humiliated and relieved.
Whatever the case, the matter was finally settled.
Gu Sheng called Leung Siu-tong over. "Go talk them into leaving. They should head back now. Blocking the police station entrance all the time isn't right, after all. Have a word with those reporters too."
After Leung Siu-tong left, Gu Sheng held the neck of his beer bottle between three fingers and asked casually, "Why did you become a cop?"
The two chatted idly. Apple had promised Gu Sheng she would talk with him until morning, and she stayed on her guard the whole time.
To her surprise, however, Gu Sheng made no other moves at all. He even seemed rather halfhearted as he exchanged a few casual remarks with her.
Most of his attention was on the singer onstage instead.
That left Apple completely unable to understand what Gu Sheng wanted. She felt relieved, but also a little disappointed at being ignored.
At midnight, Gu Sheng stood up and yawned, then looked down at Apple.
"I'm going
