They returned to He Xin's mansion for dinner that evening. There were considerably more people this time.
Besides Second Madam and He Xin's youngest son, He Qing's younger sister He Fen was there, holding He Qing and chatting with her, smiling from time to time.
He Xian and He Xi, the first wife's two daughters, were also there, though they were much more distant with He Qing and He Fen.
He Yi, however, was nowhere to be seen.
"This is him!" When Gu Sheng arrived, He Qing stood and took his arm, her face radiant with a smile.
Whatever she was thinking, she at least looked happy.
It was a show for the two sisters from the first wife's side.
He Xian and He Xi greeted them warmly, but inwardly they sneered.
It wasn't as though they hadn't heard of Gu Sheng's reputation. Especially now that he had clashed with Hong Kong Island's top families, He Qing might not end up any better off than their eldest sister, He Ying.
He Xin had an eldest daughter whose looks were every bit as good as He Qing's. He Xin had later arranged for her to marry into a Hong Kong Island family, but she had divorced two years ago.
Then her younger brother had died in an accident. She now had some mental health problems and deeply resented He Xin, so she wouldn't be appearing here either.
He Xin's family was a mess.
He Fen, on the other hand, was very friendly. She didn't speak particularly quickly, but she had a young girl's liveliness. "Brother-in-law, I hear you're really powerful on Hong Kong Island. If I go there and mention your name, can I do whatever I want?"
"What are you, a crab? You want to walk sideways?" Gu Sheng laughed
