At midnight, GS came out of the hotel rubbing his lower back. It couldn't be helped-Fat Lai had been far too enthusiastic.
"Brother S, we've caught them," Ah Tung said as GS got into the car.
"Where?" GS put a cigarette between his lips and took a deep drag. Feeling considerably more awake, he asked.
"A warehouse by the sea."
"Let's go. I want to see where those two bastards found the balls to screw even me over," GS said.
Sitting in the car, GS thought it over. That bastard Fat Lai really must have teamed up with Thunderclap Tiger. Otherwise, he wouldn't have had that kind of money or nerve.
Fucking turncoats!
Come to think of it, Hongxing had no shortage of turncoats.
Ah Kei was in bed with Crow and Smiling Tiger, while Fat Lai and Sang Fan were in bed with Thunderclap Tiger.
Prince was cozying up to Chiang Tin-yeung in Thailand.
Whichever way I count them, there aren't many loyal, honorable men left besides me.
They drove all the way back to a seaside warehouse near Causeway Bay. Ah Tung parked, and GS pushed open the car door.
"Brother S!" The men standing guard outside immediately threw away their cigarettes and stood up to greet him.
"Mm." GS nodded and walked into the warehouse. Two men lay tied up in the middle of the floor, sacks covering their upper bodies.
"Have you given them a proper welcome yet?" GS asked first.
"Not yet," one of the men beside him immediately replied.
"Give them one first." GS pulled over a chair and sat down.
"Mmph, mmph..." At the sound of GS's voice, the two bound men immediately began writhing on the floor, muffled cries coming from their mouths.
Several of his men walked over with steel pipes and started smashing them down on their bodies. The sound of steel striking flesh filled the warehouse.
"Watch it. Don't hit their heads. Leave them breathing." GS put a cigarette between his lips, and a man beside him immediately lit it.
Only after finishing the cigarette did GS say, "Stop. Take the sacks off."
His men pulled off the sacks covering the pair. Their mouths were stuffed with someone's filthy socks, and now their heads were bloody, with barely a breath left in them.
"Let them talk," GS added.
As soon as the things stuffed into their mouths were pulled out, both men hurriedly begged, "Boss, spare us!"
"Boss, I was wrong. Please spare us."
Even Yellow Hair didn't dare put up a tough front now.
These people really had no humanity.
Besides, in a place like this, nobody would ever know if they dumped the two of them into the sea.
The corner of GS's mouth twitched as he watched them with interest. "I'm curious. Where did you get the balls to screw even me over?"
"There aren't many people these days who dare screw me over. I almost admire your courage."
"Boss, it was all his idea! He said we only needed to scare them a little. And at first, we didn't know you were the one behind it!" Liu Kei struggled to turn over as he sobbed.
"Bullshit! You were the one who couldn't bear to part with the money and came looking for me. How did my sister end up with a piece of shit like you?" Ah Wah cursed, then turned to GS and begged, "Boss, spare me this once. I'll never dare go against you again."
"Go against me?" GS burst out laughing.
"Ah Tung, did he say he'd go against me? Did I hear that right?"
"You heard right, Brother S," Ah Tung immediately replied.
GS crossed his legs, his smile growing even wider. "Never mind whether you're even qualified. How's a dead man supposed to go against me?"
"You'll haunt me as a ghost?"
The men around him all laughed along.
The two on the floor were scared out of their wits.
"Boss, I was wrong! I'll never do it again!" Yellow Hair wailed.
"I'll buy my life! I'm willing to pay for my life! Please give me a chance, Boss!" Liu Kei shouted.
"Oh? Buy your life? How much are you willing to pay?" GS looked him up and down.
"Two... three million! I'll pay three million for my life! Please spare me, Boss!" Liu Kei said hastily.
"You don't seem that stupid. How did you end up doing something so idiotic?" GS was getting interested.
He had previously gotten eleven million from Hung Lok. Over a million had gone to his men right then, and with the subsequent family support payments and medical bills, the total had reached two million.
He'd spent over two million drawing cards, another million-plus on a Mercedes, and four million buying the seat of a branch boss. That was ten million gone.
Then there were the new branches and the office rental. That money hadn't come close to covering it. He'd had to throw in the previous profits from Yuen Long and a month's rent from Tin Shui Wai just to barely plug the hole.
Over ten million-the money flowed away like water, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
All that remained now was the two million-plus in the company's account, but he still had to prepare branches in Yau Ma Tei and elsewhere.
He was also a lavish spender himself, with enormous expenses.
So he was immediately tempted.
"I've got a pig's brain! I was stupid for a moment!" Liu Kei said over and over.
"Because of you two, two of my men were beaten badly enough to be hospitalized, and another has to go to prison. Medical bills and family support will cost at least a million." GS raised one finger.
"Yes, yes. I'll pay the medical bills and family support." Liu Kei nodded repeatedly, his heart bleeding.
But at a time like this, he couldn't worry about anything except staying alive.
"All right, you get to keep your life for now, and the medical bills are settled. What about him?" GS looked at Yellow Hair.
"Brother-in-law, save me!" Yellow Hair cried hurriedly.
"I can't save you! If it weren't for you, none of this would've happened." Liu Kei wanted nothing more than to kick Yellow Hair away.
"That won't do. Two men came in, so either two men walk out or two men go into the sea. You don't think I'd leave a witness, do you?" GS suddenly said.
Wild joy flashed in Yellow Hair's eyes. He repeatedly knocked his forehead against the floor. "Thank you, Boss! Thank you, Boss!"
"How about this? I'll leave you a way out. This punk's life will cost you two million. You can collect it from him yourself afterward." GS felt he was still kindhearted. Liu Kei had made over six million selling the building, and he was only taking six million.
At least he hadn't made him sell his home.
"Boss, please leave me a way to survive," Liu Kei pleaded.
"Not willing? Put them both in barrels, seal them with cement, and throw them into the sea." GS turned and gave the order.
"I am! I'm willing!" Liu Kei shouted hastily. He could earn money again after losing it, but once his life was gone, it was gone for good.
"Don't think I don't know about that garment factory of yours. It's worth at least two or three million. I've already left you a way out." GS sneered.
He felt he really was kindhearted, leaving even a scumbag like this a way to survive.
"Yes, yes. Thank you, Boss."
"Go get an IOU. Have him sign it in a minute," GS ordered.
A moment later, GS looked at the IOU in his hand, slapped his subordinate, and cursed, "We're respectable people running a legitimate business, understand?"
"Like the banks use! I want a proper loan agreement!"
"Learn something from now on. Use your brain and follow the law in everything you do, understand?" GS reached for the Big Brother Phone and called his lawyer.
Less than an hour later, someone delivered a loan agreement.
Lawyer Luo didn't even show his face. He had guessed what was happening from just a few words, and naturally, there was no way he would appear at a scene like this.
Once the two had finished signing, GS took the loan agreement and walked out, yawning and clicking his tongue. "What happened to these two? How did they fall so badly? Get a doctor to look at them. What a terrible sight. I'm too kindhearted to stand seeing this. I'll head back to sleep first."
"Ah Tung, I'll drive myself back. Stay here and keep them company while they see the doctor. Tomorrow, go with them to withdraw the money."
"And ask him about Wang Bao while you're at it."
