The arrival of a new Descent Faction sparked heated discussion across the networks of Earth's races.
Every descent event posed a major challenge to the Earth Alliance.
Conflicts could easily erupt during contact with alien races.
During the previous descent event, for instance, the Eclipse Race had barely sent out a robot for mental communication when it was met by a ferocious assault from the mysterious faction.
But the most typical example was the arrival of the Rockshell Race two hundred years earlier.
This race had demanded exclusive mining rights to the mineral veins beneath the Pacific Ocean immediately after completing temporary registration, and had even threatened to charge other races passage fees on the seabed.
At the negotiating table, their chief had refused to compromise, declaring that they would rather go to war than accept the small tract of land allotted to them.
The Rockshell Race Chief had only agreed to negotiate properly after the Eclipse Race deployed its Orbital Cannons array and fired a test volley.
Then there was the even more absurd arrival of the Symbiotic Race.
As soon as this race received temporary status, it requested permission to parasitize other races, calling it "promoting civilizational integration."
But this parasitism essentially meant clinging to a host and absorbing its nutrients. How could the races of the Earth Alliance possibly agree?
In the end, the issue had still been resolved through military deterrence.
Then there was the Skyfeather Race back in the day.
This race preferred living in the sky. Immediately after receiving temporary resident status, it launched a Floating Archipelago construction project, stating that it would not compete with surface races for living space.
The seemingly decent plan actually carried all sorts of hidden problems.
First, the enormous airspace occupied by the floating islands would interfere with
