This had originally been a stretch of desolate mountains, and the recent tsunami had scoured it once more, leaving it even more barren. Not a soul could be seen for miles around.
Yet now, large numbers of soldiers had gathered in these supposedly deserted mountains.
Hundreds of soldiers armed with loaded weapons surrounded a spot halfway up the mountain, all braced for a formidable enemy.
An argument was coming from within their ranks.

Surrounded by the crowd were three people, two men and a woman. The speaker was the tallest and burliest of the three. Despite the scorching summer heat, he wore an extravagant scarf. With dark circles under his eyes and a fierce face, he looked like someone best not provoked.
Of the other two, one was a youthful-looking boy who had not spoken a word since appearing. He stood to one side with his arms folded, like a stone Buddha. The woman sat on a bluestone behind them, holding a stalk of foxtail grass and yawning in boredom. Neither looked particularly threatening.
Even so, no one dared underestimate them.

There were fewer than a hundred people of that caliber in all of humanity at present, and every one of them was a renowned expert!
Yet none of these three matched any of those experts. Moreover, they had climbed out of the mysterious well the soldiers were guarding, which supposedly connected directly to the Star Spirit World.
