Background / History
Cola previously belonged to a master in the Star Spirit World who used the name Sphinx. Cola’s full name had sixteen components: seven represented the master’s name and family lineage, eight represented Cola’s own lineage, and only the final component was the personal name. Cola grew up eating slime worms, a forest species described as nutritious familiar feed capable of increasing magical power 28.
Mu You brought Cola to his pet shop on Earth and chose the shorter name after looking at his empty cola bottle. Cola explored the shop, rubbed against its furnishings to leave a scent, and frightened the caged animals simply by approaching them. Although Cola demanded slime worms and rejected ordinary cat food as inferior, hunger eventually prompted a taste—and immediate, enthusiastic eating 28.
After hiring Lin Xue, Mu You arranged a thorough veterinary examination because Cola had no vaccination history or quarantine certificate. Blood sampling and numerous other tests found no abnormalities. Lin Xue recommended a full course of the Feline Triple Vaccine and Rabies Vaccine, while Mu You announced that Cola would receive monthly checkups 33.
Appearance
- Ordinary form: An American Shorthair with amber eyes and a snowy-white belly 29 42.
- Illusory form: Appears tiger-sized, with blood-red eyes whose three tomoe merge into kaleidoscope patterns. This appearance disappears when Mu You strikes Cola on the head 42.
Personality
Cola is proud, territorial, and boastful, initially dismissing the shop’s animals as weak “familiars” that could be defeated with one paw. That pride readily gives way to appetite: despite declaring ordinary cat food beneath Sphinx’s standing, Cola devours it after a single taste. Cola also deliberately rubs against Xiao Ya, exposes the belly, and purrs to obtain affection and canned food—behavior Mu You notes is far sweeter than anything directed at him 28 32.
Cola becomes intensely absorbed in Naruto. A language-comprehension test turns into an overnight viewing session reaching episode 21. When Mu You takes back his phone, Cola first tries to seize it, then clings to his ankle and begs to continue through the Chunin Exams. In just over a week, Cola watches more than five hundred episodes and begins sharing Mu You’s alarm-driven sleep schedule 31 32 44.
Cola fears Lin Xue after the veterinary examination, interpreting her arrival as a possible takeover of “our territory” and asking Mu You to dismiss her. Cola also treats the Wizards’ Association’s warnings about black magic as established truth, but cannot explain its specific harms when Mu You challenges those claims 33 35.
Abilities & Skills
Telepathic Conversation
Cola can direct intelligible speech to Mu You while other people hear only meows 33 42.
- Understands spoken Japanese and reads subtitles while watching Naruto 31.
- Mu You theorizes that unfamiliar speech and writing are automatically converted into a language Cola understands, much like the Star Spirit Dictionary 31.
- According to Cola, Mu You would need to become a Familiar before learning the ability 31.
Illusions
Cola uses an intimidating visual illusion after mistaking Mu You’s late-night return for a break-in 42.
- Creates the appearance of an enlarged body and patterned red eyes 42.
- Adopts the name “Uchiha Cola” and threatens to use “Infinite Tsukuyomi” 42.
- The demonstrated effect is an illusion, not a confirmed physical transformation or Naruto technique; Mu You dispels it with a smack to the head 42.
Star Spirit World Knowledge
Cola explains familiar care, equipment rarity, and the reputation of black-magic practitioners 28 35 43 47.
- Equipment identification: Recognizes the Butcher’s Bone-Cleaver as rare grade from its blue glow and the Mithril Bow as common grade from its white glow 43.
- Black-magic prohibition: Reports that the Wizards’ Association banned black magic hundreds of years earlier and hunts down discovered practitioners. Claims about becoming one of the Fallen are based on the Association’s teachings rather than Cola’s firsthand knowledge 35.
- Witch of Calamity: Recognizes the title but initially does not recognize the name Anthony Vivian. Repeats rumors about her curses and disasters 47.
- Mystic Arts Association: Identifies it as a black-magic research organization founded by the Witch of Calamity and eleven other Dark Wizards, comparing it to Naruto’s Akatsuki 47.
Cola gives the following equipment-grade hierarchy 43:
| Grade | Identifying Color |
|---|---|
| Black iron | Black 43 |
| Common | White 43 |
| Fine | Green 43 |
| Rare | Blue 43 |
| Epic | Purple 43 |
| Legendary | Gold 43 |
