CtOS was a true double-edged sword, a double-edged sword for society.
At this age in his previous life, Lier would have seized control without hesitation. He instinctively liked the feeling of molding everything and shaping everything-or, as it was called, the lust for power.
But with the lessons of his previous life behind him, he would rather people be able to voice their demands more freely, without their voices being diluted by the processes in between.
After all, from 2030 onward in his previous life, his recreational activities had practically dwindled to working out or studying another subject-
So-called recreational activities were becoming more and more of a luxury.
So the functions for guiding social consciousness and shaping the social subconscious could be cut.
Still, with so much data in his hands, looking at it with this mindset would feel rather unsettling. Sooner or later, Lier would have to make a decision-
How, exactly, could he make this technology serve a more positive purpose?
Neither Chicago with ctOS installed nor the cyberpunk world was the future he wanted.
But what counted as a "better world"?
It was a difficult question to answer.
Lier ate and thought. His mother beside him didn't say much, only watching Skye and the others bustle about next door with some embarrassment.
His mother couldn't help asking, "Lier, what are they doing?"
"Oh, nothing. A machine burned out, and they're cleaning up the broken one."
"You look like a heartless capitalist right now. Your employees are working themselves to death while you sit there eating and watching them."
"Mom-I'm a conscientious boss. Who else in Hell's Kitchen can offer them such good conditions?"
Lier didn't mind; his mother was only joking.
As they talked, Lier thought of something else: the company still hadn't found an accountant.
