Turns out the owner of Jurassic Park really was a movie buff-or rather, a superfan of the Jurassic series.
Just how much of a fan was he?
He'd gone and changed his name to Hammond, the exact same surname as the founder of Jurassic Park in Jurassic Park.
His real name was Hammond Tretow. He was pretty well educated, too, with master's degrees in biology and environmental science from Columbia University.
After graduating, he couldn't stop thinking about dinosaurs. He thought it over and decided to start a zoo, devoting himself to his ideal.
"Mr. Tretow."
"Call me Hammond."
Lier was on the phone with Hammond.
"All right, Hammond. Do you think your zoo can stay in business?"
"Of course-who doesn't like seeing dinosaurs?"
"But there aren't any dinosaurs in your zoo. Speaking of which, where did you get the iguana?"
Lier had found that Jurassic Park's funding was rather limited.
Lesser Antillean iguanas were endangered animals. You couldn't buy one without going to some trouble, and Jurassic Park didn't look like it could afford one.
On the other end of the phone, Hammond said proudly, "I caught it myself-surprised? After graduating, I spent some time in Europe and saved enough money to go there.
"These iguanas were originally registered for scientific research. I believe that one day I'll be able to recreate dinosaurs!"
Lier couldn't help applauding.
There was something a little foolish about an ideal like that, but you had to admit that it was hard to dislike someone willing to act on his ideals-
Unless those ideals were political.
Lier thought for a moment, then said, "So you plan to fund your biological research with the income from running a zoo. Do you think that's realistic?"
"You don't need to tell me that!" Hammond said angrily over
