A pack of hyenas couldn't defeat a pride of lions, so they waited for a chance-for the lions to fail, show an opening, and expose their fangs when they were in a sorry state-

The roar of the engine didn't stop at all. Its thunderous sound rang out again!
The black smoke was left behind. The Mackinaw's cargo compartment armor had been fully opened, and the enormous Powered Armor was holding up the Kronium armor plates that should have been fixed to the outside of the vehicle-
They were like a massive shield!
These Kronium armor plates should have been held in place on the outside of the vehicle's body by electromagnetic armor, forming an outer layer of armor. But with this system down, and the relay Controller out of order, they would all be secured by mechanical locks.
There were quick-release designs around places like the side windows, but the rear of the cargo compartment was a little different:
Besides those mechanical locks, the armor plates were connected by a frame made of three Kronium bars, allowing them to be removed directly in an emergency!
As long as the person using them as a shield could withstand the force of the explosion, they could serve as one!
