Across from the Sapphire Nightclub, in an unfinished building nearly two blocks away, a Hellhound sniper team lay in ambush:
The Rakshasa electromagnetic sniper rifle, designed by Tsunami Defense Systems, was an ultralong-range sniper rifle with a retro-futuristic design. Its power far surpassed that of the Nekomata, another weapon in the Tech Sniper Rifle category.
The weapon also had a special external slot. All it needed was an electromagnetic base and a stable power supply, and it could transform into an anti-armor-grade Electromagnetic Cannon.
The Hellhound was aiming at Lier, who was attending the banquet.
"What do you think these people are after?"
Below the sniper, members of the Auxiliary Guard Squad were discussing the biggest news in Night City today: the whole city had been showing those Terrorists respect, but they'd chosen to act like lunatics and give the city none in return.
"How should I know? All I know is the banquet isn't as big as it was supposed to be. Seems like all their troublemaking has made the traders lose faith in Dogtown."
"If it were me, I'd have gotten the job done and gone home for a vacation ages ago. After going that far, if you had even a shred of social sense, wouldn't the silver come pouring into your pockets?
"That Burger King might really be a brainless Cyberpsychosis case. Or maybe he's just an idiot with no social skills."
"Quit flapping your gums. We're on a mission, not here to brag! Watch it, or I'll put you in my mission report!"
The soldier chewed out his companion until he shut up. Then he focused on watching the distant Sapphire Nightclub-
Normally, a Hellhound soldier of this rank shouldn't have had Cyber-Eyes capable of seeing that far so clearly.
But he could see it.
