The atmosphere in the dark corridor was unbearably oppressive.
Qin Manjiang glanced at the opposite corridor. The light from Shen Hai's phone was still visible.
Shen Hai seemed not to have noticed anything strange.

Qin Manjiang picked up his pace. After checking the first room, he immediately went to the second, raised his phone, and swept it over the room.
There was a figure on the bed too. Not this room.
Next, the third room.

When the hazy light from his screen shone through the observation window, he could see someone on the bed in the third elderly residents' room too!
Not this one either?
Qin Manjiang headed to the fourth room. Just as he shone his phone at it...
A wrinkled face covered in age spots suddenly appeared at the observation window!
Qin Manjiang's heart abruptly skipped a beat, and he immediately pulled back the hand holding his phone!

Elderly faces appeared at all three of the other observation windows he had just shone his light through!
They made no sound, only knocking against the doors intermittently, producing a constant series of bangs.
The noise also drew Shen Hai's attention. He had finished checking the rooms on the left, too. Strangely, all the rooms on the left were occupied as well!
The two immediately rushed toward the central hall to meet up.
"Everyone on my side woke up."
"Same."
They spoke rapidly.
"Let's go. Something's wrong!"
