Three days passed in a flash.
The day of the Yellow Springs Opera had arrived.
Mei Sijun had sent everyone the Southern Branch Troupe's location. Qin Manjiang had not gone there to scout ahead of time; he did not know about the others.
He simply felt that since the place had become a property owned by the Mei family, anything that might happen would have happened long ago after all these years.
The reason an Ultimate Game had only emerged today might be a change that had occurred recently.
At seven thirty in the morning, after getting up and washing, Qin Manjiang and Nie Yunzhen took a taxi to the western outskirts of Fu City, following the address Mei Sijun had given them.
The road was rough and uneven the entire way, with not a soul in sight. Wind howled around them, and barren mountains and bare ridges stretched as far as the eye could see, as though they had entered another world.
No wonder the Mei family had left it unused. This place was so desolate that it would have been uncomfortable to live in even without ghosts.
The taxi driver said nothing throughout the journey. After dropping them off, he immediately stepped on the gas and left.
Once they were out of the car, Qin Manjiang checked Mei Sijun's directions. They were to find a river first, then follow it downstream for a while.
Qin Manjiang and Nie Yunzhen walked one behind the other through the morning mist. Soon, they found the river.
The river had no name. It was neither wide nor fast-flowing, with nothing remarkable about it, but they spotted footprints beside it, in a place hardly anyone visited.
Were those theirs?
Qin Manjiang did not like scouting ahead, but that did not mean the others
