They set out just before dawn. The shores of Clearwater Lake outside Lordaeron were an ideal place for spellcasting. It was secluded enough, and few people ever came here.
"The most important thing is the time anchor." Nathanos handed the fragment to Alexstrasza. "This can help us lock onto Azeroth."
"Then what about Draenor? How do we lock onto that world?"
"I solved that problem long ago."
What Nathanos did not mention was that the time anchor on Draenor was Kairozdormu himself. They would return to Outland's past while the Bronze Dragon's soul had yet to completely dissipate.
"Are you ready?"
Alexstrasza did not know exactly how she was supposed to prepare, but she noticed that Nathanos had a heavy backpack. She was curious about what was inside.
"You remind me of an activity mortals enjoy—going on an outing."
"Perhaps a journey would be more fitting. We're going to a foreign land."
The Queen of Dragons smiled and held out her hand to him, which was also tantamount to giving up her last chance to back out. The two of them clasped the fragment together in their palms.
The Witherer focused his mind and concentrated his thoughts on the fragment. The spell began to take shape, and the world around them began to move.
"Close your eyes."
A voice in her heart told Alexstrasza to do as he said. The moment she shut her eyes, a powerful arm wrapped tightly around her, forcing her close against Nathanos's chest.
They spun without stop, like two fallen leaves caught in a whirlwind. The rotation grew faster and faster. The Witherer could no longer see the scenery around Clearwater Lake; all that remained were countless sounds and images battering his senses. He saw everything that had happened in the past.
