Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Epic — prerequisite realm | 254 290 | Epic practitioners need a Source of Life to pursue Legendary. Their physical and qi-blood growth otherwise becomes extremely slow. |
| Legendary Domain | 281 290 | Advancement consists of digesting and integrating a Source of Life. It breaks previous bodily limits, allowing renewed growth in physique, qi-blood, and the Heroic Spirit Soul. |
| Mythic — advanced rank within Legendary | 281 | The Source of Life has completely become the practitioner’s own power, adapting to the individual. The visible result is a Heroic Spirit Body six or seven meters tall. |
| Sacred Domain | 282 | Further breakthrough requires a Saintly Seat Element rather than merely a Source of Life. |
Advancement Requirements
Source of Life
A Source of Life is the external resource that makes Legendary advancement possible; training alone does not replace it 254 282.
- Controlled access: Major royal families, the Elf King’s clan, the Dwarf King’s clan, and powers among the Blood Clan, Lizardmen, and Orcs possess sources. Consequently, almost every Legendary belongs to an established power 254.
- Transfer after death: Patrick Nolan initially conjectures that killing a Legendary could yield their source. Later, Cattiss states that her own source can only be extracted after her death, and Lin Hao obtains sources through Legendary hunts 254 282 288 296.
- Possible numerical limits: Patrick suspects that Legendary numbers are restricted. The Kingdom of Lauren’s conquest of Baiting is explicitly described as securing its Legendary quota 254 284.
- World connection: The Beggar’s Source carries the blessing of Antares’s world and is identified as gold, unique, and world-exclusive 285.
Origins and Corruption
Cattiss connects several source lineages to the Twelve Saints, including the Elf King’s Wind Breathing, the Blood Ancestor’s Breath of Blood, the Orc Ancestor’s Breath of the Beast, the Yōma Ancestor’s Breath of Flame, and the Dragon King’s Breath of the Dragon 282.
- Inherited sources: Early Legendary Dragons descended from the Dragon King were born with Sources of the Dragon. After their deaths, those sources became the foundations of Legendaries in several kingdoms 292.
- Corrupted sources: Boffo warns that Zerg Sources of Life can enslave anyone who uses them to advance 261.
- Calamity allegiance: Some heroes deliberately join the Ice or Insect Calamity to become Legendary 254.
- Racial strength is not sufficient: Contemporary flying dragons lack the potential to reach Legendary without a Source of the Dragon, although their mature physiques can still let them fight Legendary opponents 292.
Abilities & Limits
Physical Resilience
Legendary bodies are exceptionally durable even without Qi-Blood Flame or armor 261.
- They can casually withstand bullets with their bare bodies 261.
- Lin Hao estimates that even a 20 mm autocannon would probably cause only superficial wounds, based on the dwarves’ assessment 261.
- This resilience marks a qualitative difference from the Hero Domain 261.
Heroic Spirit Body
The Heroic Spirit Body provides a powerful combat manifestation, but it can be broken by sufficiently concentrated attacks 281 285.
- A Mythic expert can shatter an ordinary Legendary’s Heroic Spirit Body with roughly a dozen seconds of sustained, high-intensity attacks 281.
- Shattering the body is not necessarily fatal: Sean Lauren reconstructs his beggar-shaped manifestation after Lin Hao cuts it apart 285.
- A Mythic body can absorb earth and fill itself with soil and gravel, at the cost of reduced speed 281.
Mobility and Endurance
Legendaries are difficult to finish off when they choose to flee. Even after obtaining a Source of Life, Lin Hao cannot reliably catch them and favors ambushes 285 286.
- Equipping a source increases Lin Hao’s blood-energy burst duration by more than tenfold within Antares 286.
- Legendary durability is not invulnerability: nuclear devastation badly injures the Orc Legendaries outside Andes Fortress 309.
- In destructive power alone, an all-out Legendary qi-blood strike falls short of a 155 mm shell 309.
Political Role
Legendary Pact
After repeated wars and the recognition of the Ice and Insect Catastrophes as threats to all living beings, Antares’s powers signed a pact barring Legendary Domain practitioners from intervening in continental affairs. It enabled more limited competition between nations and races 233 303.
The pact depends heavily on mutual restraint rather than unconditional obedience. The Alchemy Guild’s Legendaries consider attacking Lin Hao worthwhile when they believe the risks are controlled and his secrets offer sufficient profit 296.
- Council enforcement: The Legendary Council orders the Kingdom of Lauren to compensate Taifeng, cede a city-state, and cease further attacks 287.
- Retaliation as justification: The Alchemy Guild argues that Lin Hao used Legendary force first, making their planned counterattack defensible 296.
- Disputed coverage: After Lin Hao devastates their forces, the Lizardmen announce that they will honor the pact only if Baron Link is included 306.
Documented Distribution
Counts reflect the circumstances reported in each chapter, not permanent totals.

| Yōma | Three Legendary Yōma Kings known to the Theocracy 270. |
| Kingdom of Lauren | Four after absorbing Baiting’s Legendary resources; later reduced to three following Lin Hao’s intervention 284 306. |

| Lizardmen | Nine before Lin Hao kills their Legendary commander at Lone Mountain Fort 306. |
