  • Lü Bufan went to wash clothes at the lake, where Meng Lian'er introduced herself to him.
  • Master Ming, Old Skeleton, and Du Yuan suspected Meng Laojiu's Immortal Talisman was aimed at the Suppressing Stele and resolved to keep the balance while investigating upheavals above and below.

Ch. 18Human bezoar, dog treasure

  • Senior Brother Wang escaped with two survivors and ordered them to warn the other Immortal Sects without mentioning the gourd.
  • Huang Jiu carried Lü Bufan through the white mist with a bamboo tube of incense ash from Old Skeleton, safely passing the Immortal Sect watchers.
  • The big black dog followed their scent through the mist after picking up a dull-colored cloth pouch, and Old Skeleton remarked that it had learned to pick up rubbish.

Ch. 22Down the Mountain, Bound for Huqi Town

Lü Bufan traveled toward Huqi Town with Big Black, while a crow’s disappearance alerted the eleventh city lord and stirred concern at the Taihua Sect.
