The Allen Family's driver took Kallen and the others to a suburban gas station. At Alfred's urging, the driver returned to the manor.

There were small supermarkets and fast-food restaurants near the gas station. Kallen chose a restaurant and, since they had a cat and a dog with them, sat down in a corner.

Four cups of coffee arrived first. Puer leaned over and licked one, then stuck out her tongue in displeasure. Hmph, cheap instant coffee.

Kallen patted Puer's head and said,

"Don't tell me Dis brewed coffee for you back at the Immerlis Family home."

Puer pouted and turned her head away.

The young lady had just spent some time at home enjoying lavish treatment. Going from luxury to frugality was proving difficult.

Soon, three Light Meals arrived.

The difference between these Light Meals and rice bowls was that the toppings weren't served on the rice.

There was rice, with fried chicken pieces and thick tomato sauce beside it.

Alfred chose the same Light Meal as Kallen, while Kevin the Golden Retriever got three large burgers with double meat;

Puer, meanwhile, had an eel Light Meal, the most expensive option.

But Puer struggled to eat it. She wasn't deliberately finding fault this time; Kallen could smell the fishiness coming from her meal too. Probably so few people ordered it that the ingredients weren't fresh, or perhaps the owner himself had forgotten how to cook the damned eel.

Still, Kallen thought his fried chicken tasted quite good. Rice coated in tomato sauce tasted a little strange with its sweet-and-sour flavor, but it cut through the chicken's greasiness nicely.

Though thinking this might sound affected, Kallen genuinely found this meal far more appetizing than the exquisite Allen Family meals Alfred brought him punctually every day.
