Talina took two steps toward the exit, stopped, and looked at Bersha. Bersha stood beside Neo, showing no intention of moving.
Choosing between the scrap-like protection offered by Reincarnation and the powerful Light practitioner right before her, Bersha would undoubtedly choose the latter.
Her current position within the church was awkward. The fall of the Church of Light had brought about the complete fragmentation of its factions. At the height of the chaos, there had been several Central Hubs, each claiming to be the legitimate one. Even now, although only one nominal Central Hub remained, beneath it were two dominant factions, and beneath those, the local Light forces largely operated independently.
Before this, relying on the "Divine Envoy" and the "bell," with the Central Hub's backing, she had finally managed to gather a force around herself. But the disastrous outcome had once again shattered what little "majesty" and "The Sacred" she had painstakingly accumulated.
Although she remained convinced that she had done nothing wrong, and that the "Revelation" had not been wrong either, even she did not understand why things had turned out this way.
So now, she desperately needed a new backer, someone whose power could continue to lend her support.
Moreover, after learning that Order had declared war on Reincarnation, Bersha was even less likely to continue fleeing with Talina.
The Church of Light had been gone for too long. Although the Orthodox Churches openly cracked down mercilessly on Light Remnants, anything done for long enough would breed complacency from top to bottom.
Just as the relevant city government departments certainly knew what business those "pastry shops" on the streets actually conducted, they could catch every violator if they truly wanted to. But aside from year-end performance drives or special crackdowns, both sides maintained an unspoken understanding.
