The sound vanished, and the darkness receded.
Dis raised his head. He had to hurry and leave the Divine Seat, because not only could Old Hoffen not hold on much longer, but he himself also felt a crushing exhaustion.
Those two mighty Epoch Overlords had used the rules of time to communicate across epochs. As a listener, he not only had to bear a theoretically terrifying burden, but would also suffer a backlash from the rules of time.
If he could still endure the former through sheer strength, then what awaited him from the latter might very well be temporal pollution, something even true deities feared.
Yet when Dis opened his eyes and was about to rise, he suddenly saw a towering figure standing before him.
He had clearly already left. It was precisely because of His departure that this plane had ceased to be suspended, forcing Old Hoffen to use all his strength to maintain it.
But now, He had appeared here again.
Had Old Hoffen exerted too much strength, causing the earlier scene from history to reappear?
Yet even though they were old friends who had known each other for most of their lives, and even though Dis had great confidence in Old Hoffen's abilities, he still did not believe Old Hoffen could accomplish this.
In matters involving the God of Order, even the God of Principles in person could not forcibly intervene.
Then only one possibility remained... He had left, and then He had returned.
Gods were aloof. They were generally indifferent, their exceedingly high life levels making it difficult for them to possess anything resembling human empathy. This was even more true of an Overlord Chief God within His own epoch.
And this act of leaving and returning clearly did not fit His style of conduct.
