Xia Xiu followed Julius back to the government building. Julius said he would introduce him to Mr. Gray, the district official.
But just as Julius was about to contact Gray, the two of them were stopped by Dark Division personnel wearing smiling masks.
The Dark Division personnel then led them into a spacious office.
"So this is the newcomer who appeared in Aalsmeer's underground district. Younger than I expected..." Pansy Jane studied the face of the young man with blond hair and golden eyes, silently adding, And more handsome than I imagined, too.
"Captain Pansy, Tommy was found by our city government. You..." Julius said awkwardly to Pansy Jane. He could tell that she wanted to take the man he had found for herself.
Given her official honors and position, Julius could only tactfully remind her that this man belonged to the city government, to district official Gray. Someone from the Dark Division like her had better not interfere.
Pansy Jane took a pack of women's cigarettes from inside her clothes, raised it to her mouth, and pulled a cigarette out with her teeth.
She rubbed her right thumb and index finger together beside its tip. A tiny spark flashed, lighting the cigarette.
"Tommy Shelby, how about working for me? That fellow Gray is far too rotten and muddied. If he didn't have the blessing of the [Holy Sun] to rely on, he wouldn't even deserve a mention from me."
Pansy Jane held the cigarette between her right index and middle fingers, taking another drag as she spoke.
Xia Xiu looked at the rather overbearing woman before him and flashed a sunny smile.
"What benefits would I get from working for you?"
Pansy Jane paused briefly, then a faint smile appeared at the corners of
