Transparent Ghost

"I'd like you to become my Companion Ghost."

The words scared the Security Guard Ghost nearly out of his soul.

This guy had a death wish. He even dared to set his sights on a forbidden being like this!

Drunkard Ghost was just as shocked by Lin Luo's words, his expression turning incredulous.

"Do you understand what you're saying?!"

"Of course I do."

Lin Luo's gaze was resolute as he continued, "If I'm going to be a Ghost Tamer, I'll be the strongest. And you meet my standards for a Companion Ghost."

"It's over. We're definitely dead now..."

The Security Guard Ghost wanted to cry but had no tears. He had only just had his eye condition cured, and now his ghostly life was in danger!

But things did not turn out as the Security Guard Ghost had expected.

Instead of looking angry, Drunkard Ghost burst into laughter.

"Little fellow, even I'm moved by your ambition. Interesting. I'll give you a chance."

Drunkard Ghost left the possibility open. Looking straight at Lin Luo, he said slowly, "Bring me two kinds of Netherworld Wine, Earth-Burial and Yellow Springs, and I'll agree."

The Security Guard Ghost froze on the spot at those words.

That demand was impossibly harsh. There was no way to fulfill it!

"All right. It's a deal."

Lin Luo nodded. The Security Guard Ghost's expression alone told him how difficult gathering those two kinds of Netherworld Wine would be, but he had no intention of giving up. If anything, it fired up his fighting spirit.

"Interesting. I'll await your good news, then."

Drunkard Ghost gave Lin Luo an intrigued look, then vanished like a phantom.

Only after Drunkard Ghost left could the Security Guard Ghost, who had been crushed beneath that terrifying nether power, catch his breath. Helplessly, he said, "You're far too reckless, kid. If you'd angered Drunkard Ghost, we'd both have been finished!"

In response to the Security Guard Ghost's complaints, Lin Luo scratched his head. "Sorry about that. By the way, do you have any information about Earth-Burial Wine and Yellow Springs Wine?"

"Earth-Burial Wine is part of Director Ghost's collection at Yellow Springs Hospital. He treasures it more than anything."

The Security Guard Ghost held nothing back, telling Lin Luo everything he knew.

"Yellow Springs Wine is even rarer. They say it's only found in the hospital director's private wine cellar."

Lin Luo's expression grew grave. It seemed gathering those two kinds of Netherworld Wine would be much harder than he had imagined.

He had met Director Ghost a few times, and the ghost was very difficult to deal with.

Getting Director Ghost to give him Earth-Burial Wine was nothing but a pipe dream.

As for the hospital director, that would be even harder.

"I'd advise you to give up now, kid."

The Security Guard Ghost shook his head. Lin Luo offered no explanation in response to his advice, choosing to stay silent.

Thinking Lin Luo had abandoned the idea, the Security Guard Ghost said nothing more and led him out of the Abandoned Building.

"It's dark now. I'll take you back to the Dormitory Building. Wandering around at night could get you killed!"

Since Lin Luo had cured his eye condition, the Security Guard Ghost felt some goodwill toward him.

"Sorry for the trouble, then, Mr. Security Guard."

Lin Luo gladly accepted.

A little over ten minutes later, the Security Guard Ghost brought Lin Luo back to the Staff Dormitory.

"The Dormitory Building isn't part of my patrol route. I can't go upstairs with you."

"All right. Thanks for your help."

Lin Luo nodded while quietly analyzing the situation. It seemed the ghosts in the Horror World were all bound by rules.

After saying goodbye to the Security Guard Ghost, Lin Luo was about to head upstairs when he passed the stairwell and noticed that Grandpa Ghost was no longer in the lounge chair downstairs.

Lin Luo sighed inwardly. He had been hoping to have Grandpa Ghost take him upstairs.

After all, the Dormitory Building was anything but peaceful at night. One careless move could get him killed!

The corridor lights in the Dormitory Building were off. The entire area was pitch-black; he could not even see his hand in front of his face.

The lights were off in every room, too.

Yellow Springs Hospital was terrifying at night, after all. Leaving a light on might attract ghosts.

An ordinary person faced with this situation would probably have been scared out of their wits.

Fortunately, Lin Luo had strong nerves. He forced down his unease and kept moving.

But soon, Lin Luo noticed something was wrong. Footsteps began sounding behind him, and he could faintly hear sobbing.

His expression turned grim. It seemed a ghost had set its sights on him.

This was not Lin Luo's first encounter with such a situation. He quickly struck first, lashing the Blood Rope behind him.

This time, however, it did not work.

The Blood Rope missed its target.

With his surprise attack unsuccessful, Lin Luo could only retreat immediately and turn to look behind him.

But to his surprise, everything around him suddenly fell silent. There was no sign of a ghost anywhere.

Just then, Lin Luo suddenly felt something terrifying watching him, sending goosebumps crawling over his entire body.

He hastily dodged the next instant, but claws still raked his body, leaving bloody wounds.

"This is trouble."

Lin Luo clutched his wound, his expression ugly.

Clearly, an invisible ghost had targeted him!

He was in trouble now.

Transparent Ghost excelled at ambushes. Even veteran players struggled to defend against him.

Lin Luo had never expected the Staff Dormitory to be so dangerous at night. Even a vile creature like Transparent Ghost prowled here. He really was in trouble.

"Filthy bug, you'll make a fine snack."

Transparent Ghost grinned viciously.

But the moment he spoke, Lin Luo raised the Blood Rope and lashed out, making Transparent Ghost howl in pain.

Even without seeing him, Lin Luo could use sound to judge his approximate location.

It was one of the common methods for dealing with Transparent Ghost.

"What a cunning little bug. But your resistance is futile."

Wounded, Transparent Ghost grew even angrier and released a thick blood mist.

The blood mist carried a corrosive stench, while the faint wails and roars of vicious ghosts echoed within it.

It immediately interfered with Lin Luo's judgment.

"Don't worry. I won't make your death too painful. I'll bite off your flesh one mouthful at a time, until I've gnawed you down to a skeleton..."

Transparent Ghost jeered venomously, trying to break Lin Luo's mental defenses.

Lin Luo did not answer. Instead, he kept dodging, giving Transparent Ghost no chance to ambush him.

Gradually, however, Lin Luo's strength began to fail.

Yet the more critical the situation became, the calmer Lin Luo grew. He recalled the strategy guide for Yellow Springs Hospital.

The Dormitory Building at Yellow Springs Hospital was a sanctuary for players.

But when night fell and ghosts emerged, it became extremely dangerous as well.

Still, as long as players kept their eyes closed and ignored the disturbances around them, they would remain unharmed.

Any player who was provoked into opening their eyes would meet a gruesome end!

Transparent Ghost must be the one attacking people in the Dormitory Building.

Lin Luo gritted his teeth, and resolve flashed in his eyes.

The next instant, Lin Luo actually closed his eyes and stood still.

Even Transparent Ghost had not anticipated this move!

"Heh heh, bug. Looks like you've given up. Let me torment you properly..."

Transparent Ghost let out an even more sinister, terrifying laugh.

But Lin Luo continued to ignore him, shutting out every word.
