• Freg the Snow Demon recognized Shen Ye’s White Bone Medal and threatened him into helping assassinate Prince Norton, while hidden undead watched nearby.

• Zhao Yibing sensed that someone was using Shen Ye as bait, ordered her servant to watch events unfold, and absorbed the soul of a rare fox to replenish her power.

• Prince Norton received news that undead assassins had gathered outside the safe house, and Shen Ye stepped forward to face them.
• When Freg called for Prince Norton, Shen Ye knocked the prince unconscious and pretended to have captured him for the undead assassin.
• Shen Ye opened the safe house door and activated his Gate ability as Freg entered.
• At the same moment, a white-haired old man appeared on the other side of the Gate, and Shen Ye yelled for them to kill each other before closing the connection.

Shen Ye opened the gate to let Big Skeleton retrieve Freg’s Soul Shockwave Bomb, then escaped with Prince Norton into the study as Freg and the white-haired old man pursued them. The old man killed Freg, but after the bomb revealed itself as a strange monster and vanished, he planned to frame Shen Ye as a Calamity suspect and claim credit for exposing it.

• Shen Ye decided to risk opening the gate so Big Skeleton could recover the Soul Shockwave Bomb while Freg and the white-haired old man were fighting.
• Big Skeleton left through the gate, and Shen Ye raised his Agility, grabbed Prince Norton, and retreated into the study as Freg and the old man charged after them.
• The gate vanished with Freg trapped outside, while the white-haired old man passed through the study door and returned to the mountainside, where he found Freg embedded in the mountain.
• The white-haired old man struck Freg from behind with Dharma Realm Tiger Starburst and seized his half-severed body.
• Freg activated the Soul Shockwave Bomb, which transformed into a three-headed, six-armed crystalline monster before dissolving into colorful bubbles.

After escaping a deadly battle in the examination grounds, Shen Ye gained the purple trait “Matchstick-Selling Little Boy” and reunited with Zhao Yibing, who confronted him before a little girl drove her away. The chapter left Zhao Yibing and her companions blown off the Floating Island while Shen Ye remained under the little girl’s protection.

• The white-haired old man tried to warn the gathered experts that Shen Ye had summoned a calamity, but he saw the hall as an illusion and dispersed into gray shadow before dying in the Temple.
• Shen Ye emerged from the collapsed mountain and learned that both opponents from the battle were dead.
