Back in Lighthouse, Bai Jing divided the team’s spoils, and Xu Le and Gu Beichen both declared they wanted the valuable Elemental Lightning Fruit.

• Bai Jing ordered the team to search the battlefield, while Xu Le found a sealed Resentment Chain and Gan summoned a ghost nurse to question her about the clinic, Lan, and Mayor Wu Wuanquan.
• Xu Le and Gan considered whether Lan had altered the medical notebook, then left the clinic as the ghost nurse faded away.
• The team returned to Lighthouse with Zhou Zimo badly injured and the mission effectively failed; Bai Jing distributed the clinic’s proceeds among the Night Watchers.
• Xu Le heard other Night Watchers criticize Team 6, then attended Bai Jing’s meeting to divide the team’s loot.

Xu Le negotiated with Gu Beichen to sell him an Ice Elemental Fruit, then struggled to afford his share of the electric Elemental Fruit. After Gan agreed to help, Xu Le went to Bai Jing to collect the fruit he had been hoping to obtain.

• Xu Le and Gu Beichen competed for the electric Elemental Fruit, but Xu Le persuaded Gu Beichen that an Ice Elemental Fruit would suit his fighting style better.
• Xu Le revealed the Ice Elemental Fruit he had hidden in his locker, and Bai Jing witnessed the private deal.

Xu Le, Gu Beichen, and Wang Shu went to District C’s Black Market to sell Moonstones and look for ranged Soul-Suppressing and Spirit-Suppressing equipment. After discovering the market’s ordinary stalls were misleading, Xu Le learned that better goods were sold in Black Alley, and the three headed toward Lane 13 Entrance.

• Bai Jing decided Team 6 would seek equipment and support to continue the Sector 53 mission, and she sent Xu Le, Gu Beichen, and Wang Shu to sell Moonstones and search the Black Market.
• Xu Le and Gu Beichen ate their Elemental Lightning and frost fruits, briefly tested their new powers against each other, and then set out for District C on Gu Beichen’s Steam Locomotive.
• A Guard stopped the trio for speeding, but Wang Shu showed his Night Watcher identification and explained they were investigating a case.
• At the Black Market, Xu Le exposed the poor quality and misleading prices of the Moonstones, then questioned whether the market had a more central area.
• Xu Le prompted Gu Beichen to criticize District C’s market, and stallholders revealed that better goods were available at Lane 13 Entrance in Black Alley.

Xu Le brought Gu Beichen and Wang Shu into Black Alley, sold their Moonstone, and searched for a sealed relic that could help the team’s mission. He used Guyinduo Vision and repeated Divination to find the sealed Death Knell pocket watch, whose last wish was tied to Wang Beichuan.

• Xu Le turned a stone into gold and paid the gatekeeper to let him and his companions enter Black Alley.
• Xu Le sold 150 grams of Moonstone to Li Tianli for 15,750 dollars.
• Xu Le asked Gu Beichen and Wang Shu about weapons that could counter powerful soul entities, then went to the premium goods section.
• Xu Le dismissed Gu Beichen and Wang Shu so he could search the sealed relics alone, using Guyinduo Vision and Divination to guide his search.
• Xu Le found the sealed Death Knell pocket watch, which could release a soul-shaking death knell and required him to fulfill Wang Beichuan’s last wish to unseal it.

Xu Le bought the sealed relic Death Knell to help Bai Jing’s mission and asked Wang Shu and Gu Beichen to help identify its owner, Wang Beichuan. On the way home, Xu Le helped an old man and rebuked two rude Lighthouse University students, while a Black Alley figure appeared to be following them.

• Xu Le bought Death Knell for 6,000 and learned that the saleswoman, Shanna, had reported his divination to her supervisor.
• Xu Le showed Death Knell to Wang Shu and Gu Beichen, explained that they needed to find Wang Beichuan to break its seal, and asked them to help.
• An old man was shoved while boarding a tricycle, so Xu Le caught him and helped him aboard while Wang Shu and Gu Beichen loaded his luggage.
• Xu Le rebuked two Lighthouse University students for mistreating the old man, then boarded the tricycle with Wang Shu and Gu Beichen.
• Wang Shu asked whether someone had followed them from Black Alley, and Xu Le said he had gone there to do good deeds and accumulate merit.
• Xu Le returned home, where Ding Ke resisted his attempt to pet the cat.

Xu Le endured repeated failures to unite the lightning element with his Guyinduo Soul Tree, eventually creating an Elemental Lightning Fruit and collapsing from exhaustion. The next day, he practiced using Guyinduo Power on bullets, helped Bai Jing investigate Wang Beichuan, and encountered an elderly man arriving at the Branch Office to seek him out.

• Xu Le repeatedly trained to control the Soul Tree and elemental current together until they formed an Elemental Lightning Fruit, after which he passed out.
• Bai Jing agreed to have Team 6 investigate Wang Beichuan, and she asked Xu Le to help process the team's reimbursement.

Zhou Tianming went to the clinic for an examination, where a scarred doctor called his name.

• Bai Jing told Xu Le to sell excess Heart Energy Neutralizer and send the proceeds to the injured Zhou Zimo.
• Zhou Tianming visited Xu Le, who drew three Guyinduo Cards and saw a vision suggesting that a young woman, Zhou’s wife, and a man resembling him would bring poison, illness, and conspiracy.
• Xu Le told Zhou Tianming that his suspicions were correct and warned him to prepare for disaster, then advised him to have his stomach and kidneys examined.
• Xu Le asked Zhou Tianming to locate Wang Beichuan, the possible watchmaker who had owned Xu Le’s pocket watch, and Zhou agreed to help.

Xu Le set limits on his Divinations and began taking requests at the Night Watchers' Branch Office, while Zhou Tianming recovered from his poisoning and used his Black Alley connections to investigate Wang Beichuan. The chapter ended with Zhou bringing Xu Le seventeen possible files and heading to pay Doctor Wang, leaving Xu Le to pursue the investigation.

• Doctor Wang diagnosed Zhou Tianming with multiple poisons and gave him a potent medicine that made him vomit and purge the toxins, leaving him feeling better than he had in years.
• Zhou Tianming sent Black Alley to search for Wang Beichuan and resolved to learn how to follow a Warlock's rules.
• Gan warned Xu Le to set boundaries, and Xu Le decided to perform three Divinations per day, charging a hundred each and allowing one per person per month.

Xu Le and Team 6 narrowed their search for Death Knell’s owner to priest Wang Beichuan and went to the Illuminati Church, where Madam Juya helped them gain an audience with its bishop. Guyinduo Vision identified the bishop as a level 3 Oddity, leaving Xu Le facing a dangerous figure as the investigation began.

• Xu Le, Wang Shu, and Bai Jing narrowed the Wang Beichuan candidates to six and identified a Listening Priest as their strongest suspect.
• Bai Jing recalled a concealed Upper City murder case from ten years earlier and sent Xu Le, Wang Shu, and Gu Beichen to investigate priest Wang Beichuan.
• At the Illuminati Church, Xu Le encountered Madam Juya, who revealed she was Six in the Mother Tree Realm and proposed sharing information and resources.
• Madam Juya helped the team meet the church’s bishop, then left them to question him about Wang Beichuan.

Xu Le and his companions uncovered Wang Beichuan’s murderous past, then met a mysterious old woman whose teachings fulfilled Wang’s final wish and helped unseal the Death Knell. Back at the branch office, Xu Le received paid leave to train, while Bai Jing warned that Team 6 still faced staffing and mission pressures.

• Xu Le, Wang Shu, and Gu Beichen read Wang Beichuan’s diary in the Illuminati Church crypt and learned he had killed sinners, making their bones into the Death Knell’s hands.
• Xu Le took Wang Beichuan’s diary and inferred that the Illuminati Church had known about his killings before the group went to Wang’s home to seek the teachings he had wished to hear.
• At Wang Beichuan’s courtyard, Xu Le spoke with a powerful old woman who taught him to embrace darkness and light and then cut them down; afterward, Xu concluded she had rung the Death Knell.
• Xu Le returned the Death Knell’s hands to twelve and unsealed the Gundo Relic, then urged Gu Beichen to train his Ice Element Fruit.
• Bai Jing told Xu Le he owed Team 6 34,306.70 and granted him and Gu Beichen paid leave to train, while explaining the team’s recruitment difficulties and plans for the next mission.

Xu Le accidentally entered the Mother Tree Realm by touching the Elemental Electricity Fruit on his Soul Tree, where Chi Xiao explained its training and sacrifice functions. After Chi Xiao sacrificed her Red Jade Earring and left him three Guyinduo Fruits, Xu Le identified the earring as a powerful relic and wondered whether he could bring in something better to sacrifice.

• Xu Le divined that a beggar would become rich the next day, took one cent as payment, and considered whether he could divine for Teacher Gan again.
• Xu Le touched the Elemental Electricity Fruit in his Soul Tree and was pulled into the Mother Tree Realm.
• Chi Xiao entered the Mother Tree Realm and explained that it let them train without physical injury and sacrifice Guyinduo Relics for rewards.
• Chi Xiao sacrificed her Red Jade Earring, received three Guyinduo Fruits, and left the fruits and earring for Xu Le as repayment.

Xu Le tested the Mother Tree Realm, sacrificed a relic to nourish his lightning Elemental Fruit, and struggled to master Body Elementalization. Elsewhere, Gu Beichen faced an attempted attack by his second sister, Gu Xijing, and ordered Wang Shu to kill her.

• Xu Le returned to the Mother Tree Realm with the Tianrui Lifeng Twin-Bladed Sword and discovered that injuries there healed quickly, while pain and fear remained.
• Xu Le chose to nourish his lightning Elemental Fruit, and the Mother Tree consumed the sword and strengthened the fruit.
• Xu Le tried to extend the nourished fruit from his body and then practiced Body Elementalization, repeatedly injuring himself as his attempts went wrong.
• Ding Ke watched over Xu Le in the dormitory as he continued twitching and suffering from his failed training.

Gu Beichen and Wang Shu left Gu Xijing’s house and stayed with Xu Le, who had begun mastering elementalization. Xu Le trained Gu Beichen while improving his own skills, then tested a modified Revolver against a Level 1 Oddity before the team prepared to return to duty.

• Gu Beichen told Wang Shu that Gu Xijing had threatened him, but he could not bring himself to kill her; they left and went to Xu Le’s home for the night.
• Xu Le showed Gu Beichen his progress in partial elementalization, and Gu Beichen asked him to teach him.
• Xu Le trained Gu Beichen in elementalization over the next ten days while repeatedly practicing dangerous full-body transformations in the Mother Tree Realm.
• Wang Shu shot Gu Beichen during a training test, and Gu Beichen’s elementalized ice body repaired the damage.
• Xu Le fought a Septic Deer in the dark, using Electrical Surge and a modified Revolver loaded with Guyinduo and Fear Heart Energy to kill it.
• Gu Beichen and Wang Shu found Xu Le after hearing the gunshot, and the three agreed to return and report as their leave ended.

Luo Juya supported Team 6’s upcoming mission by assigning Level 3 Alchemist Gu Jianuo to help and providing new weapons, while Xu Le used divination to investigate her intentions. After both Xu Le and Gan drew the ominous Black Sheep Girl card for the mission, Bai Jing asked Gan to divine whether Luo Juya wanted Gu Jianuo dead.

• Luo Juya visited Team 6, offered a Level 3 Warlock and Zion weapons, and Xu Le divined that she had come because of him.
• Team 6 received shotguns, and Bai Jing ordered the ammunition coated with Oddity Ashes before their mission.
• Gu Jianuo arrived to join the mission, and Xu Le’s divinations suggested she had no personal ill will but would observe him for Luo Juya.
• Xu Le and Gan both drew the Black Sheep Girl card for the mission, and Gan warned Xu Le that the team would face danger but could still change its fate.
• Bai Jing asked Gan to divine whether Madam Juya wanted to kill Gu Jianuo.

Xu Le and Gan’s divinations confirmed that Luo Juya wanted Gu Jianuo dead, while Gu Jianuo proved her formidable alchemical skill by enchanting the team’s bullets. After questioning whether Gu Jianuo knew of the danger, Xu Le drew a Heart card whose meaning suggested a bloody lesson or a source, leaving the answer unclear.

• Gan first drew a Forest card while divining whether Luo Juya wanted to kill Gu Jianuo, then drew an Angel card after using more Spirit Energy and Heart Energy.
• Bai Jing and Xu Le discussed why Luo Juya might have sent Gu Jianuo on the mission, and Xu Le argued that the team could use Gu Jianuo’s Level 3 abilities while she tried to survive.
• Gu Jianuo introduced herself to Xu Le and used a six-seal Rune Alchemy Array to enchant everyone’s bullets at once.

• Ding Ke briefly transformed into a girl while Xu Le slept, then returned to cat form before he left for the mission.
• Bai Jing introduced Zhou Jie and Team 5, assigned Xu Le to lead a squad with Wang Shu, Li Shunliu, and Gu Jianuo, and sent the two teams to explore separate areas.
• Xu Le spotted an alchemical mark on the apples Gu Jianuo handed out and warned Wang Shu not to eat his, while the teams continued toward White Haze Town.
• The two teams encountered a herd of Demon Bulls near the railway tracks, and Bai Jing and Zhou Jie led the group on foot after their vehicles could not proceed.
• Xu Le’s squad found two fresh Demon Bull corpses and attacked as they began to mutate, but Guyinduo Vision warned that one corpse had split into six Level 2 Homologous Oddities.

Xu Le and his companions defeated a Demon Bull and several Split Flesh, then discovered a Level 3 Light Spider concealed in the sky. They brought it down inside a collapsing building, and Xu Le fired a bomb-enhanced shot at the exposed Oddity.

• Xu Le summoned a Fate Scarecrow and Living Corpse, and he and Wang Shu killed the Demon Bull while Li Shunliu and Gu Jianuo fought off the Split Flesh.
• Gu Jianuo sensed an Oddity above them, and Xu Le identified it as a Light Spider hidden in the light.
• The Light Spider pursued the group, killed Xu Le's Thorn and Demon Bull, and forced them to retreat toward a five-story building.
• Gu Jianuo enchanted Xu Le's shoes with temporary swiftness and gave him an Alchemical Bomb Type III as the group crossed the street.
• Xu Le and his companions collapsed part of the building around the Light Spider, then Xu Le attached bombs to its legs and brought it down.
• Xu Le faced the exposed Light Spider behind a red jade shield and fired a bomb-enhanced bullet at it.

After Xu Le’s team defeated the Light Spider, he used divination to discover that Li Shunliu’s mission required her to kill Gu Jianuo. Li Shunliu attacked, but Xu Le and Wang Shu stopped her; the team then abandoned its mission and prepared to catch up with Bai Jing and the others.

• Xu Le examined the Light Spider’s corpse, took its Light Fangs, and rested with the injured team while they used Gu Jianuo’s healing potion.
• Wang Shu reprimanded Li Shunliu for her earlier grenade mistake, and Xu Le privately divined that her mission required her to kill Gu Jianuo.
• Li Shunliu drew her gun on Gu Jianuo and tried to detonate two Alchemical Bombs, but Xu Le’s Scarecrow killed her and Wang Shu shielded Gu Jianuo from the blast.
• Xu Le found Gu Jianuo safe and treated Wang Shu’s blast wounds; Wang Shu confirmed that Li Shunliu had been killed.
• Xu Le decided the team would abandon the Block 1 mission, rest for two and a half hours, and then try to catch up with Bai Jing and Gu Beichen.

Xu Le recovered, returned to the Night Watchers with Gu Jianuo and Wang Shu, and reported Li Shunliu’s assassination attempt to Bai Jing. As Bai Jing explained why their team had to support Madam Juya despite the danger to Gu Jianuo, Gu Beichen confronted Xu Le over Li Shunliu’s death.

• Xu Le reflected on exhausting his Spirit Energy, decided to keep it above seventy percent, and discovered the Light Fang could be offered to the Gundo Mother Tree.
• Xu Le learned that Gu Jianuo studied enchantment under Xiong Zemo, District Chief of District B, and agreed with Wang Shu to let Bai Jing decide what Gu Beichen should be told.
• Xu Le, Wang Shu, and Gu Jianuo reached the other Night Watchers as The Thinker returned to its fountain at eight o’clock, allowing the teams to defeat the White-clothed Ghosts.
• Gu Beichen demanded to know where Li Shunliu was, and Xu Le told him she was dead before going to report the mission to Bai Jing.
• Xu Le told Bai Jing that Li Shunliu had been sent to kill Gu Jianuo, and Bai Jing said their team must support Madam Juya while protecting Gu Jianuo.

Xu Le and the Night Watchers investigated the immovable statue in White Haze Town after it had attacked them in daylight. Gu Jianuo identified it as a living Doll and Oddity, and Xu Le recognized it as Bai Kui’s Thought just as its finger moved.

• Bai Jing and Zhou Jie briefed the team on the statue’s strength and agreed to investigate it at night before it could move again in daylight.
• The Night Watchers tried weapons, explosives, elemental magic, and lifting the statue, but nothing damaged or shifted it.
• Gu Beichen confronted Gu Jianuo about Li Shunliu’s death, and she told him Li Shunliu had tried to kill her before Xu Le and Wang Shu stopped her.
• Gu Jianuo examined the statue and sensed that it was both a Doll and an Oddity, declaring that it was alive.
• Xu Le used Guyinduo Vision to identify the statue as Bai Kui’s Thought, a level 3 Guyinduo-Lightforged Polluter, then noticed its finger move.

Xu Le and the others discovered that the Thinker Statue lost its Immortality when it awakened, and they prepared explosives to destroy it. After Gu Beichen returned from an unexplained explosion and warned Xu Le that Shunliu died because of him, Xu Le realized Gu Beichen was secretly warning him that Gu Jianuo might be manipulating the mission for her own purpose.

• The Thinker Statue awakened, killed A Kai and a level 2 frost Calamity Sorcerer, then returned to its crouching pose after its Immortality vanished while it moved.
• Xu Le explained that the statue's Immortality protected it while motionless and that its iron body repaired damage, so Bai Jing planned to destroy it with explosives while it was awakened.
• Gu Jianuo agreed to make Alchemical Bomb Type III charges, and the team bound the statue with ropes and stakes to keep it near the blast.
• Gu Beichen disappeared from camp, returned through an explosion, passed Gan's contamination check, and told Xu Le that Shunliu had died because of him.
• Wang Shu recognized Gu Beichen's gesture and exchange with Xu Le as a covert warning, while Xu Le concluded that Gu Jianuo may have steered the battle and deliberately caused the statue to awaken.

Xu Le helped the teams destroy the statue, claimed its Lightforging core, and began to suspect that Guyinduo Cards represented distinct powers. As the group entered the town administration building, he saw that Gu Beichen was marked Lightforging.

• Xu Le and Bai Jing concluded that Gu Jianuo’s interests aligned with the mission, even though her larger goal differed from theirs.
• When no one else volunteered to activate the bombs, Xu Le approached the statue, activated them, and heard it call him Night Fiend before Bai Jing pulled him to safety.
• Xu Le collected the statue’s Thinker Core-Lightforging and connected Night Fiend, puppets, and Lightforging to his Guyinduo Cards.
• Gu Jianuo asked to buy the core, but Xu Le refused and the team prepared to explore the town administration building.

Xu Le and the Night Watchers freed Gu Beichen from the Shadow Demon possessing him, then learned it had gathered souls and sent Gu Beichen to retrieve several objects. The chapter left Xu Le and Gu Beichen recoiling from a sudden, uncontrollable urge to kill each other.

• Xu Le spotted the Shadow Demon in Gu Beichen's shadow, and Gu Beichen signaled for Xu Le to strike him with a lethal blow.
• Xu Le used Death Knell to pin the Shadow Demon and shot Gu Beichen with a Heart Energy Bullet, forcing the entity out of its host.
• Xu Le, Bai Jing, and the others attacked the exposed Shadow Demon until it burst apart, while Gu Beichen reformed from ice fragments.
• Gu Beichen told Xu Le that the Shadow Demon had collected souls, including Li Shunliu's, and that it had asked him to find a notebook, toothbrush, pillow, hat, and cane.

Xu Le and Gu Beichen discovered that Gu Beichen had become a Guyinduo Offspring through Lightforging contamination, then found a warning about White Haze Town and a cure hidden on the second floor of the town administration building. As the team explored the building, a Lightforged Oddity attacked them, and Gu Jianuo hinted that something special was on Xu Le.

• Xu Le identified Gu Beichen as a Guyinduo Offspring, while Gu Beichen admitted that Li Shunliu's death involved powerful interests and warned that Team 6 could be endangered.
• Xu Le and Gu Beichen found a hidden notebook containing Bai Kui's warning that Lightforging contamination threatened the world and that a Type III White Hair Disease cure was hidden in a pillow on the second floor.
• A cowboy-hatted attacker shot Niu Yuan and killed Old Lü, then appeared again and drove Bai Jing back before vanishing; Xu Le recognized him as Bai Kui's Lightforged thrall, a Level 3 Oddity.

Xu Le resisted the Shadow Demon’s attempts to control him, learned that it called itself Ed and wanted five items destroyed in the mayor’s office, then uncovered a disguised Oddity among the Night Watchers. The fake Gu Beichen was killed, but Xu Le recognized it as Bai Kui’s Disguise and wondered whether it was the fourth such encounter.

• Gu Jianuo warned Xu Le that something unclean was on him, and he discovered the Shadow Demon lurking in his shadow.
• Xu Le questioned the Shadow Demon, learned it could not hear his thoughts, and endured its suffocating attack when he challenged it.
