Next, Konan used her hand like a blade and severed Sasori's corpse with a single stroke, removing his head as though the person she had repeatedly insisted on leaving intact had been someone else.

Red light flickered across Hiruko. Konan ignored it, holding the bleeding head in one hand while opening the mechanism on Hiruko's back with the other, then forming hand seals. Sasori's face had already been distorted, and in his unclosed eyes, Hiruko's form was reflected.

After a string of unfamiliar hand seals, red light began flashing all over Hiruko's body. Then it let out a piercing hum.

"Who killed my original body?!"

"Who interrupted my slumber?!"

"Who destroyed my art?!"

One after another, Hiruko's voice sounded like broken glass scraping sandpaper, shrill and grating. Konan grew impatient and turned to leave the grove.

Sasori had long planned to turn himself into a Human Puppet so that he could become Eternal, but he had never carried it out.
