Elder Bai gives a conflicting account, claiming that the missing disciple is not dead 30.

Recruitment of Xu Xuan

Xu Xuan’s selection draws congratulations from factions throughout the Cloud Azure Territory. After verifying his chaos body, Zhao Wuji secures his recruitment by accepting Yun Qingxue’s admission and protection for Xu Xiao. The palace promptly sends personnel to the Evolutionary Spirit Sect, and the two recruits leave for its headquarters 3 6 12 13.

Xu Xuan’s choice of Mo Tianji antagonizes Elder Bai and Ouyang Quede. Their efforts to undermine him involve targeting Yun Qingxue, manipulating disciplinary rules, and planning a dangerous mission followed by assassination 15 16.

Black Dragon Town Mission

Xu Xuan receives an S-Rank assignment to eliminate bandits and rescue abducted women, with Luo Xiaotian accompanying him. At Black Wind Cave, they discover that palace disciple Qian Ren is collaborating with the bandits and has ordered visiting palace disciples killed. The mission is ultimately completed 22 24 28.

Annual Tower Trial

Before the trial, the Palace Master accepts Luo Xiaotian as his sole personal disciple. He selects Zi Yun, Luo Xiaotian, and Ye Qin for the dangerous place, rejecting Mo Tianji’s request to send his own disciples 29 30.

The trial exposes both new talent and internal hostility: Xu Xuan defeats Purple Mansion Realm core disciples, while Xing Yun falsely accuses him of concealed-weapon use. Mo Tianji returns at Half-Saint Realm, and the Palace Master subsequently punishes two core disciples for slandering Xu Xuan 33 37 43.

Defense of the Cloud Azure Territory

The palace’s five guards remain responsible for protecting the Evolutionary Spirit Sect during the demon invasion. Their prolonged wait for reinforcements provokes anger among the sect’s disciples as surrounding cities fall 45 48.

After reaching the ninth heaven of Heavenly Mansion Realm, Zhao Wuji responds to an urgent plea for help. With Mo Tianji’s puppet token and six companions, he attacks demon forces while explaining that the elders are trying to avoid provoking a full-scale war between humans and demons 45 49.
