Wukong left the room carrying the dirty clothes and ran straight into Red Boy.

Red Boy asked, "Uncle Sun, where are you going?"

Wukong said, "These clothes are dirty. I'm taking them to be washed."

Red Boy said, "How could I let you do such a little chore yourself, Uncle? Let your nephew do it!"

With that, Red Boy took the clothes from him without allowing any argument.

Wukong laughed. "You little rascal!"

Red Boy smiled and left with the clothes in his arms.

Wukong returned to the room and watched Tang Sanzang recite scriptures for a while. Finding it uninteresting, he leaned against the bed and sat cross-legged, feigning sleep as he cultivated his qi and gathered his spirit.

After reciting for a while, Tang Sanzang grew a little sleepy and went back to bed to rest.

Seeing this, Wukong roused himself and kicked Bajie, shoving him aside to make room for Tang Sanzang.

The bed was a large stone platform thirty feet wide, laid with five layers of mats, three layers of cotton, and a quilted pad. It was quite comfortable to sleep on.

If people lay lengthwise as usual, even five or six could sleep there without feeling at all crowded. But that oaf Bajie had sprawled across it sideways, taking up so much of the bed that there was no room left.

Wukong kicked him, and Bajie scratched his backside and shifted aside.

Wukong helped Tang Sanzang settle into bed.

Tang Sanzang said, "Wukong, you should rest too."

Wukong said, "Master, go to sleep. Old Sun will rest now."

Tang Sanzang lay down in the reclining Arhat posture and went to sleep.

Wukong continued feigning sleep beside him.

Meanwhile, Red Boy handed the clothes to a lesser demon and told him to wash them thoroughly.
