Ch. 454Practicing medicine in Zhu Zi Kingdom (XII)

After the King of Zhu Zi Kingdom delayed treatment for another hundred and eight days, Wukong secretly entered the palace and offered to cure him in three days. Ao Tu blocked Wukong from obtaining medicine, then publicly challenged the King and vanished after the King allowed Wukong to try.

  • After learning that the King expected rites to continue for three years, Wukong transformed into an owl and overheard the King and eunuch discussing Ao Tu’s treatment.
  • Wukong revealed himself to the King, offered to cure him, diagnosed his illness as longing for a parted partner, and asked for medicinal ingredients.
  • The eunuch went to Ao Tu, who told him he could regain descendants by giving up wealth and rank, then used his Jade Tablet to stop the Imperial Medical Bureau from supplying Wukong’s medicine.
  • Ao Tu confronted the King at court and demanded that he choose between Ao Tu and Wukong, while the officials urged the King not to trust a petty man.
  • The King allowed Wukong to try treating him, but Ao Tu set down the Jade Tablet and disappeared before the officers could catch him.

Ch. 455Practicing medicine in Zhu Zi Kingdom (13)

Wukong prepared a medicine that cured the King of Zhu Zi Kingdom’s illness, and the King hosted Tang Sanzang and his disciples at a banquet. The King then began to explain the worry that still troubled him.

  • Wukong ordered a large supply of ingredients, then made pills from rhubarb, croton seeds, pot ash, and White Dragon Horse’s urine.
  • Wukong told the King’s eunuch to administer the pills with rainwater, which the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea sent down.
  • The King took the medicine, expelled the sticky rice causing his illness, and recovered from his abdominal bloating.
  • The King praised Wukong and invited Tang Sanzang and his disciples to a palace banquet, where Bajie nearly revealed an ingredient in the medicine.
  • The King toasted Wukong and began to tell him about his remaining worry.

Ch. 456Practicing Medicine in Zhu Zi Kingdom (14)

Wukong went to Qilin Mountain to rescue the Queen of the Golden Sage Palace and fought Sai Taisui, who defeated him with the Purple-Gold Bell. Wukong fled back to Zhu Zi Kingdom in flames as Sai Taisui sent demons to seek peace.

  • The King of Zhu Zi Kingdom told Wukong that Sai Taisui had abducted the Queen of the Golden Sage Palace over ten years earlier and had repeatedly threatened the palace.
  • Wukong traveled to Xiezhi Cave on Qilin Mountain and challenged Sai Taisui to return the queen.
  • Wukong and Sai Taisui fought for more than fifty exchanges before Sai Taisui recognized Wukong and offered to return the queen, while demanding payment for her expenses.
  • Sai Taisui drew the Purple-Gold Bell and blasted Wukong with fire, smoke, and yellow sand, forcing Wukong to flee.
  • Sai Taisui sent demons to Zhu Zi Kingdom to seek peace, while Wukong crashed into the palace, ablaze and smoking.

Ch. 457Practicing Medicine in Zhu Zi Kingdom (15)

Wukong’s first attempt to defeat Sai Taisui failed, and the demon’s minions came to Zhu Zi Kingdom to negotiate the Lady of Golden Sage Palace’s ransom. After more than half a month of bargaining, they invited the king’s envoys to meet their Great King at Xiezhi Cave on Qilin Mountain.

  • Wukong returned scorched and battered after Sai Taisui’s treasure defeated him, but he insisted he would capture the demon next time.
  • A band of demons arrived, and the King of Zhu Zi Kingdom, Tang Sanzang, Bajie, and Sha Wujing hid in the Demon-Avoidance Tower while Wukong confronted them.
  • The lesser demons said they had come to negotiate, and the king agreed to talks rather than let Wukong attack them.
  • The demons demanded three mountains of silver, then admitted their Great King had named an exorbitant price to leave room for bargaining.
  • After more than half a month of negotiations and hospitality, the demons asked the king to send envoys with them to Xiezhi Cave on Qilin Mountain to settle the ransom with Sai Taisui.

Ch. 458Practicing Medicine in the Kingdom of Zhuzi (Sixteen)

Wukong escorted Zhu Zi Kingdom’s envoy to negotiate with Sai Taisui, but the demon’s excessive demands and Consort Jinsheng’s reunion with the envoy left the talks stalled. After months of carrying messages and letters between the consort and the king, Wukong refused to escort another mission, only for the king to remind him that he had promised to cure his affliction and had already dismissed the physician.

  • The Zhu Zi Kingdom king sent an envoy, escorted by Wukong, to Xiezhi Cave to negotiate with Sai Taisui.
  • Sai Taisui demanded half the kingdom’s wealth and then half its people, while the envoy argued over the ransom and met Consort Jinsheng.
  • Consort Jinsheng gave the envoy her phoenix hairpin, and Wukong and Sai Taisui traded angry words before the envoy returned to Zhu Zi Kingdom.
  • The king sent the envoy back with golden bracelets for Consort Jinsheng, and she later accepted them and sent a letter to the king through Wukong.
  • Wukong refused to escort another negotiation mission and asked the king to stamp the travel pass, but the king reminded him of his promise to treat his affliction and Wukong regretted dismissing the physician.
