Wukong tried to stop the gods and Buddhas from attacking Bull Demon King, but Heavenly King Li refused to withdraw and the Vajra urged him to seek help from Buddha. Wukong feigned illness to avoid leaving, and after the Vajra departed, he secretly flew to Banana Cave to investigate.

  • The Vajra urged Wukong to go to Spirit Mountain and suggested deceiving the demons, so Wukong pretended the Scorpion Demon’s sting had left him too ill to travel; Bajie and Sha Wujing also feigned illness.
  • When the Vajra asked for another messenger, Nezha said he would first report to the Heavenly Court, while Bajie revealed that Bull Demon King’s group had eaten the Great Python Deity.
  • Erlang backed up Wukong’s claim that the sting was serious, and the Vajra waited two days before leaving for Spirit Mountain.
  • After the Vajra left, Heavenly King Li ordered a feigned retreat to trick the demons into releasing Bodhisattva Guanyin; Wukong left a false body in the tent and flew as a bee to Banana Cave.
