Both of these basic professions were important.
Blacksmiths could forge weapons and tools, while tailors could make leather armor and clothes.
Both served everyday needs as well as combat.
That brought the number of craftspeople to eleven.
Five in the blacksmith shop, five in the tailor shop, and one in the carpentry shop.
The remaining female villagers would all have to change classes to become soldiers.
Gu Qing took three of them outside.
They would gather wild vegetables, wild fruit, and herbs, and hunt along the way.
Zhao Chi took Tang Ruan and five others to focus on cutting down trees.
They would also use shovels to dig up stumps and rocks.
These were all obstacles, and buildings could not be constructed wherever obstacles remained.
The work assignments were settled.
The women headed to their respective posts.
Zhao Chi took out the Stocking Fashion Modification Book.
He clicked to use it.
The modification book glowed and turned transparent.
An image gradually appeared before his eyes.
At its center was a standard pair of cosmetic stockings.
Several options appeared beside the stockings. He needed to select one to modify them.
[Please select a modification direction] [Stocking modification points] 10 points [1. Movement speed +5%] 10 points [2. Defense +10%] 10 points [3. Jumping ability +15%] 5 points [4. Comfort +10%] 2 points [5. Cleanliness +20%] 2 points
There were ten modification points in total.
Below were five modification directions, each followed by its point cost.
Choosing "1. Movement speed +5%" would consume ten modification points, using them all up.
He could also choose "5. Cleanliness +20%," which would only consume two modification points, leaving eight.
He could still allocate those eight points freely, allowing him to improve cleanliness five times in total.
At the sight of this interface, Zhao Chi was already certain.
Wasn't this the same interface as the one for configuring his territory?
He could definitely transfer data.
Before he even reached out, a golden light shone.
All the configuration point data could be changed.
Perfect!
Zhao Chi was in no hurry. Instead, he examined the options one by one.
He first needed to consider how to maximize their effects.
But there was no need to be overly cautious.
Even allocating the points incorrectly would be fine.
After all, this was not the only modification book. He could buy more later.
If there were problems with this modification, he could simply make a proper version next time.
For example, if this "modified version 1" turned out poorly.
He could produce "modified version 2" next time and use that from then on.
"Modified version 1" and "modified version 2" were independent and would not affect each other.
Neither would affect the "basic version."
So Zhao Chi was not worried about making the wrong modifications.
The stockings only had ten modification points.
Yet there were five options.
Every option was useful, and Zhao Chi wanted to upgrade them all.
But the number of modification points was fixed, and he could not change that data.
He would inevitably have to give up some attributes.
Even so, his modified version would be much stronger than anyone else's.
The first option was movement speed.
He should upgrade that.
Higher movement speed could determine many things and enable all sorts of tactics.
They could retreat quickly if they could not win, and easily pursue enemies who routed.
But the increase was only 5%, which was not much.
The second was defense.
Zhao Chi wanted to upgrade that too.
A little more defense meant a little more safety.
As long as they were not killed outright, Gu Qing would have a chance to save them.
As long as they survived, they would have opportunities to level up and grow stronger.
But like equipment, the stockings only offered protection to certain parts of the body.
For example, helmets only protected the head, while arm guards only protected the arms.
These cosmetic stockings could likewise only protect the legs and feet.
The increase was 10%. That was not much either, but it was more than the movement speed bonus.
The third was jumping ability.
It could be improved twice, with each upgrade adding 15%.
Naturally, that meant they could jump higher and farther.
It would allow them to perform certain combat maneuvers.
It was a supporting attribute.
It would also help with movement speed to some extent.
Longer strides would naturally allow them to run a little faster.
But the improvement would still be limited.
After all, no matter how long their strides were, if their feet did not touch the ground, they could only flail their legs in the air without gaining speed.
The fourth was comfort.
This attribute was good and only cost two points.
It would help when standing for long periods or marching long distances.
Keeping their legs and feet from tiring would help them maintain their combat effectiveness for longer, which was quite useful.
The women would probably like it.
But overall, it was still not as valuable as movement speed or defense.
He would consider it once he had an intermediate modification book.
The fifth was cleanliness.
It could improve cleanliness around the legs and feet.
Simply put, it prevented odors.
Each upgrade added 20%, so five upgrades would bring it to 100%.
But that did not mean their feet would have no odor.
Rather, the stockings would take two days to become as dirty as they previously did after one day of wear.
For example, during prolonged fighting, there might be no way to wash the cosmetic outfit at all.
With this attribute, they could go a long time without washing it.
Or if they stepped in something dirty, it could protect their feet and keep the grime from getting on them.
This was another supporting attribute.
Although this attribute was good too.
Zhao Chi still would not choose it.
Compared with the other attributes, cleanliness really did have a lower priority.
He would consider it later, once he had an intermediate modification book.
That morning, when Gu Qing had draped her long legs over him, Zhao Chi had looked at her feet.
Her arches were perfect, her feet fair and tender, and her soles rosy.
