Background / History
Tang Ruan first appears among Zhao Chi’s newly born female villagers. Her beauty and higher-than-average attributes immediately attract his attention, but she explains that the villagers need substantial amounts of food before their bodies recover. Zhao Chi identifies her as worth developing despite her ordinary villager status and lack of skills 19 20.
While accompanying Zhao Chi to fetch water, she encounters three Goblins and takes part in her first battle. After Zhao Chi uses Inspire to calm her, she feigns distress to lure the enemies into his ambush. She stops the surviving Goblin’s escape with a thrown fishing spear and assists in questioning it. She finishes the encounter unharmed, and her loyalty rises from 4, “well-behaved,” to 5, “Duty-Bound” 20 21 22 23.
After her first full meal, Zhao Chi discovers her exceptional Constitution and asks her to become a tank. She agrees immediately, even after being warned that the role involves frequent injuries. During the subsequent Goblin camp assault, she kills a Goblin while copying Zhao Chi’s fighting stance, pins another beneath her foot, and helps three other women capture twelve prisoners inside the tents 29 30 32 33.
Back in the settlement, Tang Ruan combines combat preparations with domestic work. She helps prepare food and sleeping arrangements, then rises around five in the morning to cook porridge for incoming villagers. She requests a professional soldier class, but must wait for the Barracks to be built. Her later assignments include clearing trees, stumps, and rocks from construction sites 39 42 45 47 48 49 50.
Appearance
- Build: Petite and delicate-looking, despite her considerable strength and stamina 23 25 29.
- Skin: Fair and soft 33.
- Appearance rating: 7, classified as “exquisite beauty”—one point above the other initial female villagers 19.
- Recorded measurements: 86E, 54, 88 19.
Personality
Her system profile describes her as obedient and hardworking. She follows instructions earnestly, thanks Zhao Chi for teaching her, and promises to share what she learns with the other villagers. Her initiative is particularly evident when she prepares breakfast before the new arrivals wake or enter the village 19 23 24 47.
Tang Ruan is shy in intimate situations. When Zhao Chi offers her his jacket, she mistakes the gesture for a sexual proposition and becomes deeply embarrassed after learning that he only wants her to wear it. Her early fear of Goblins is different: it is attributed to her weakened newborn condition, and disappears after recovery 20 21 30.
She is protective of Zhao Chi and willing to accept danger on his behalf. She volunteers to absorb injuries as his frontliner and later offers to guard him during a nighttime trip to the river. For unfamiliar enhancement decisions, she openly admits her limited knowledge and asks him to choose for her 30 41 45.
Abilities & Skills
Fearless
Tang Ruan possesses the Peach Haven Humans’ racial Fearless talent 21 30.
- Its effectiveness is impaired while she is newly born, leaving her nervous before her first fight 21.
- After recovery, she remains confident even though Zhao Chi’s Inspire effect has expired 30.
- The racial talent allows its bearers to fight to the death without retreating 33.
Strength and Endurance
Her restored Strength 7 matches Gu Qing’s, while her Constitution 8 makes her a strong tank candidate 29.
- Before recovery, her Strength 5 already lets her dig a grave as effectively as Zhao Chi; her greater effort makes her work faster 25.
- After recovery, she is barely winded during the march to the Goblin camp 31.
- Her Constitution makes Constitution-related enhancements yield 8% per point at that attribute value 29.
- Her Defense enhancement is intended to complement strong armor; Zhao Chi notes that its benefit would be weaker without such protection 41.
Combat
She begins without learned skills, but acquires practical experience through battle and observation 20 23.
- Deception: Feigns crying and increases its volume to conceal Zhao Chi’s approach 22.
- Spear use: Throws a fishing spear into a fleeing Goblin’s lower back and uses it during interrogation 22.
- Blade use: Copies Zhao Chi’s stance to kill a Goblin during the camp assault 32.
- Capture: Pins an enemy beneath her foot, demands surrender, and helps secure prisoners 32 33.
Domestic and Settlement Work
- Sewing and mending: Enjoys both and has nimble fingers; Zhao Chi considers her a natural tailor if she does not become a soldier 44.
- Food preparation: Can cook porridge, washes venison, and prepares meat for grilling 25 39 47.
- Land clearance: Cuts trees and helps remove stumps and rocks from planned building sites 49 50.
