Steam filled the bathroom.
Jiang Xun lounged in the bathtub, staring at the opposite wall with slightly red, swollen eyes, his gaze unfocused, as though he had lost his soul.
He looked as if he might light a cigarette the next second, blissful as an immortal.
Fu Yanli patiently helped him bathe without complaint. "How does it feel?"
Jiang Xun slowly closed his eyes, pretending he was asleep and hadn't heard.
How was he supposed to answer? Say he was quite satisfied?
Fu Yanli silently curved his lips into a smile as he washed him. "Then can we take it a step further next time?"
Jiang Xun kept perfectly still, still pretending to sleep. In truth, he couldn't be bothered to move either. His body was still limp, as though he had no bones.
Since he hadn't refused, Fu Yanli took that as agreement.
Even after he was washed, Jiang Xun refused to move, looking every bit as though he was waiting to be waited on.
Fu Yanli lifted him out of the tub, wrapped him in a dry bath towel, and carried him out of the bathroom like a child.
The bed was no longer fit to sleep in. Fu Yanli didn't tidy it up, simply carrying Jiang Xun into another room and setting him on the bed before finding a fresh set of loungewear and dressing him.
Jiang Xun had only been pretending to sleep at first, but now he was genuinely drowsy.
He lifted his eyelids and, seeing Fu Yanli about to turn away again, reached out and caught one of his fingers. "Stop fussing. Come to bed."
His voice was hoarse and heavy with exhaustion.
Fu Yanli took his hand and kissed it. "Xiao Xun, I need to go to the bathroom."
