As always, I hope everyone has a happy and enjoyable National Day holiday.
No holiday for this author, though. Since starting this book, I haven't taken a break for an entire year. I really am a little exhausted, both physically and mentally, now, and my head feels foggy every day.
So much so that I even forgot to post the winners' list last night...
Last month's results were pretty average. Once the competition's climax was over, a drop in readers keeping up with updates was foreseeable, as was having my algorithmic recommendations-which have about as much intelligence as a golden retriever-slashed in half, so it wasn't much of a surprise.
I'm feeling very calm about it now and just working hard to move the plot forward. With this volume about unraveling the mysteries of the Dragon Hall, I wanted to create a sense of suspense, but it really is difficult. I have to keep moving things forward and providing information without dumping everything out at once and leaving no suspense, so things have to develop layer by layer, with something new constantly emerging.
It's the sort of thing I really like but have never been particularly good at.
I hope I can stick the landing when the mystery is finally revealed.
At this point in the book, the tone has already been established. What everyone enjoys is still the main cast running around stirring things up, and I'll keep that focus in mind. The coming plot will still center on adventures and antics.
