"Of course it was wrong!" Jiraiya clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. "You attacked the old man and wounded him so badly that he was on the verge of death. Do you think that repays him for teaching you?"
Orochimaru did not want to argue about this question anymore. There was no point. He turned to Tsunade, a strange light flickering in his golden snake eyes.

At those words, Jiraiya wanted to charge forward and slam his fist into Orochimaru's pale face.
But Tsunade reached out and stopped him.
"Don't rush, Jiraiya. He can't get away. Hear him out first!"
Orochimaru smiled at her words, a smile that made their skin crawl. "Raito is no longer a Konoha ninja!"

Jiraiya froze for a moment, then blurted out, "Did he defect?"
"Do you think a rogue ninja can casually join another ninja village and openly wear its forehead protector?"

It would also want the secret ninjutsu those rogue ninja carried, so naturally, it would be willing to take a small risk.
But a ninja village belonging to a great nation, like Kirigakure, would never stoop to something like that.
Furthermore, Kirigakure's attitude toward rogue ninja was the harshest and most brutal among the Five Great Nations. That village had a pursuit unit dedicated to hunting down rogue ninja.
Under those circumstances, how could it possibly shelter a rogue ninja from another village?
Orochimaru turned to look at Raito, who was fighting fiercely, a hint of admiration
