The appearance of the Forest Trolls' elite troops caught Alleria and Sylvanas's interest as well.
Each chose a target, nocked an arrow, and drew back her bowstring, which brimmed with powerful wind elemental energy.
As the divine bows were drawn, wind elemental energy poured steadily into the arrows.
When the arrows could hold no more energy, the slender fingers gripping their ends swiftly released them.
Freed from restraint, the arrows shot toward the distant enemies like lightning.
The sisters had both targeted the Troll beast tamers responsible for raising the Amani War Bears.
Hiding behind their Amani War Bears, the Troll beast tamers felt perfectly safe.
Just as they were basking in that sense of security, the arrows, charged with vast amounts of wind elemental energy, easily blasted through the Amani War Bears and blew the beast tamers behind them to pieces.
After killing both targets, each arrow blasted a fist-sized hole in the stone wall.
Troll beast tamers held considerable status in Zul'Aman.
They had a knack for raising combat pets.
Their own fighting abilities were unremarkable, however, amounting to only half a combat unit.
But with their combat pets factored in, Troll beast tamers were formidable!
After all, their pets were powerful Amani War Bears.
Moreover, the beast tamers were highly capable, each commanding several Amani War Bears in battle.
With a setup like that, Troll beast tamers would surely be undefeated champions in duels against other classes.
Of course, that assumed a fair fight.
For the two lavishly equipped Windrunners, killing Troll beast tamers was easy.
Once their divine bows were fully charged with wind elemental energy, neither the beast tamers nor their Amani War Bears stood a chance of surviving!
The Troll Warlord watching from a bend in the mountain path pulled his head back in terror.
The Windrunners' powerful ranged attacks took a fairly long time to charge.
But the Troll Warlord did not dare gamble on whether they would target him.
With Windrunners joining the battle, it was a completely one-sided slaughter!
Many of the Forest Trolls' powerful units fell to those arrows that came flying every so often.
Often, they only heard an arrow's whistling passage after its victim had fallen.
Looking at his dwindling reserves, the Troll Warlord decided to request reinforcements from the rear.
Shortly after the Troll scout carrying his message departed, a dense burst of tearing sounds rose from below the cliff.
The noise lasted only a few seconds before giving way to deathly silence.
Only after a while did scattered sounds of combat resume.
But the Amani War Bears' distinctive roars never sounded again.
The Troll Warlord poked his head around the bend and took a quick look down the mountain path.
When he saw the mangled corpses of the Amani War Bears, he almost thought his eyes were playing tricks on him.
How could Amani War Bears, with their strong physical and magical resistance, have been wiped out in mere seconds?
While he stood there stunned, Alleria, who had long been watching that bend, decisively released an arrow fully charged with wind elemental energy.
Wrapped in wind elemental energy, the arrow flew about as fast as a rifle bullet.
The Troll Warlord had been dazed for only two or three seconds before the arrow blew his head apart.
As she shot the Troll Warlord dead, Alleria ran toward the mountain path to collect her spoils.
By then, the Troll defenders on the path had completely collapsed.
Before their very eyes, over a hundred Amani War Bears had been torn to pieces by unidentified objects.
Faced with such a terrifying and uncanny attack, the savage, superstitious Troll defenders dropped to their knees, believing they had offended the gods.
The Arcane Golems and High Elf warriors charging up the mountain path showed no mercy to the terrified defenders.
The hulking Arcane Golems crushed their way forward without hesitation, trampling the Troll defenders to death or casually hammering them down along the way.
The High Elf warriors followed behind, cutting down the remaining resistance while collecting loot from the defenders.
The three Arcane Golems equipped with autocannons made no unnecessary movements throughout the battle.
They advanced swiftly toward the end of the mountain path, ready to destroy the last pockets of resistance.
But when they reached the top of the cliff, the Troll reserves had already vanished.
Their warlord's head had been blown apart, for crying out loud!
Who would be foolish enough to stay there and wait to die?
The Forest Troll leaders in Zul'Aman had paid little attention to this battle.
In their eyes, sending a single warlord was enough.
Only when Trolls fled back did they realize the situation was rather serious.
Less than fifteen minutes into the battle, the defenders had already collapsed completely!
When the bear-headed Nalorakk learned that his Amani War Bear troops had been wiped out, he roared in fury.
"Roar! I'll tear those wretched pale-skins apart!"
Nalorakk was a powerful bear god, possessing tremendous strength and invincible defenses.
In his enraged state, he could not possibly think calmly.
Before the Troll leaders and the other animal gods could reach a decision, he had already run out with heavy strides.
After hastily gathering a group of followers, Nalorakk stormed out of the city with them to confront the enemy.
The highlands where Zul'Aman stood were not particularly large, but they still extended twenty kilometers around.
After leaving Zul'Aman's gates, Nalorakk traveled roughly ten kilometers north and skirted the vast lake blocking the city's front, bringing the entrance to the mountain path into view.
The sight of the empty grounds made Nalorakk stamp his feet in fury.
There were no enemies here. They had clearly already fled.
He reached the edge of the cliff and finally spotted the enemy retreating toward the barrier.
Animal Loa were immensely powerful!
But as a bear god invincible in ground combat, he had no ability to fly.
To get down the mountain, he had no choice but to run down the path.
Having arrived a step too late, Nalorakk saw that the enemy was almost back inside the barrier. With a roar of frustration, he rolled straight down the steep cliff.
After the winding mountain path broke his fall several times, Nalorakk successfully rolled to the foot of the mountain and chased after the distant enemy.
He had relied on his thick hide and sturdy flesh to roll down the mountain, but his Troll followers dared not do the same and could only make their way slowly down the path.
When Nalorakk was halfway through his pursuit, Herad ordered the Arcane Golems to fire their autocannons at him.
The small-caliber shells hammered Nalorakk, knocking him to the ground, where he shuddered under the barrage, unable to rise and continue his pursuit.
As a top-tier ground combatant, Nalorakk was certainly not going to be put down so easily.
An earthy yellow glow enveloped his body, and he transformed into an enormous grizzly bear.
The giant Grizzly Bear, as large as a medium-sized truck, weathered the dense barrage of small-caliber shells and resumed his wild charge.
Even arrows fully charged with wind elemental energy only blasted him to a brief halt.
With the enemy drawing ever closer and their ranks nearly within charging distance, Nalorakk stopped in his tracks.
An entrance had opened in the enormous Magic Defense Barrier.
Although Nalorakk was a warrior-type combatant, he also had a decent ability to sense magic.
The vast energy spilling from the barrier's entrance cleared his head considerably.
Once animals became gods, their intelligence was not much lower than that of ordinary people.
After weighing the risks and benefits, Nalorakk wisely chose to retreat.
Inside and outside the barrier, High Elves might as well have been two different races.
The High Elf mages in particular became brimming with vigor the moment they returned inside.
Forcing a breach in the barrier and entering to fight would be little different from throwing his life away!
Naturally, Nalorakk did not dare pursue the enemy into the barrier and fight them to the bitter end.
